Steering feels loose, I can detect a faint wobbleing feeling at times and then it goes away, other times I feel it and it gets bad right away, once in a while bad to the point that it jerks to the right and the steering wheel goes nuts jerking back and forth, yesterday the front end on the left side was even visibly going up and down, it feels like the geers are out of sync on the left side, it came on all of a sudden over a period of a couple of weeks, normally at speeds of 30 to 45 mph, need some advise please and sincerely I thank you

Ok so I see that the recall problem was addressed in the past. Now if you can continue to assist me I would be grateful. I still have the problem and need to know if you think I should replace the relay rod again or could it be something else if that has already been done. does the relay rod have gears on it? All of the shaking starts in the left front.
Thank You Again,

Can you kack the vehicle up? If so, raise the left front about 5 inches off of the floor. Now, insert some type of tool, a pry bar would be nice, anything that you can pry with; under the tire, and raise the tire. Have a helper look at all of the front suspension components for excessive clearance. Nothing should move more than 2 millimeters. Then, grab the tire at 12 oclock & 6 oclock and move it towards & away from you. Does the tire move on the hub? There should be NO in/out movement...Please report your findings. Don't replace the relay raod a 2nd time. No need. Can you kack the vehicle up? If so, raise the left front about 5 inches off of the floor. I have the same problem. it jerks side to side and it seems the gears are out of sync. its feels like its grabbing and then letting go. its wierd. this really helped out thanks
My 1990 4Runner shook majorly when hitting speeds of 70MPH and up. The front shocks needed replacing and the tires had worn unevenly and needed to be rotated and balanced.

A wobble in the steering is more likely to be one of
- loose wheel nuts
- loose hub nut
- worn steering tie rod outer joint
- worn steering tie rod inner joint
- loose steering rod universal
- worn steering knuckle ball joint
Out of these a worn or loose steering tie rod joint is most likely. If you can, jack the front of the car up and rest it on axle stands, NOT just on the jack, then have one person shake the front wheel back and forth while holding it at 9 and 3 o'clock, while another holds the steering wheel still. Then look at and feel each joint to see if you can locate the looseness.
I had that same problem on my Toyota pickup once and replace the wheel. No more problem. Wheel must have had a certain warp to it. Normally though, this wobble you feel would be a burnt spot in a rotor. But you've replaced that.
Chevy is having problems with the steering columns on these models. Feels like a jiggle in the steering wheel when you hit a bump of any kind. Cost about $75 at the dealer for a new part.
What you have is called death wobble. Generally it is caused by one or several loose components in the steering. You need to have all mounts including where steering box is attached to the chassis checked. Often the problem is caused by either bad ball joints or track bar ends or mounts. Wheel stud torque is also important. if any brake, tire, or other front end work has recently been done, this may be the cause. One item often suggested by shops is the steering stabilizer. It is often damaged by the shaking but if replaced will not cure the problem and will be damaged again. If everything in the front end is carefully checked and verified as good, then as a last resort, have some additional positive caster added to the front end alignment. That often helps.
um not sure what you mean by wheel wobbles slightly. can you only feel it when you brake or is it just more when you brake? if you feel it all the time and just more when you brake then i would have you tire balanced. if you just feel a shaking when you brake then you need to have your rotors looked at front and back because either will cause shaking in the front end.
