It is a Foxconn 945g7ma motherboard, a few days ago I was getting 3 beeps at start up but no image on screen and going to power save, I reset the memory as I read that could be the problem and got it to boot up but, saw the BIOS page and then something too quick that couldn't catch. The next time I tried to re-boot I got a short beep (as it used to do before the problem started) but then nothing on screen, the next time not even a beep Can someone help? .

Thanks for your reply, just a question, I have 4 RAM slots but only two strips inserted, do I need to remove both and start the computer or one at a time?

Yes and don't forget to clean the edge of the ram which goes into the ram slot using a Eraser before reinserting the same back in Ram slots and reply back with results

Remove the RAM chip and start the computer without the ram chip inserted and see if you get beeps if yes the motherboard/bios is ok, even if you dont get to hear any beeps, try rubbing the edge of the ram which goes into the ram slot using a Eraser and then reinsert the same back in Ram slot and then see if you can at least get to bios and see if hard disk is detected as windows boots from hard disk if yes check if you can boot to windows if no may need to reinstall windows.please reply with results so that can help

There's a beeping sound during startup

Hello,

Thank you for posting here in Fixya.com

The beeping sound is not a problem. Most computers produce a beeping sound when you start your computer up.

Thank you,

Carlo

There's a sound during startup

Hello,

There is no problem with your computer. It's just natural to have a beeping sound during start up. If there is, then it will show an error message in the screen.

If it's just a short beep, then it's normal.

Memory upgrade on gx280 beeps on boot but doesn't start. memory beeps 1 234 5 6

When your computer emits beeps when you power on the computer, it's usually means that you have a memory issue. Try re-seating the memory modules and power on the computer. If you have more the one module, insert one at a time and power on the computer. The other issue is if that model supports 4 gig memory.

2 beeps at startup, black screen

2 Short Beeps Your computer has memory problems. First check video. If video is working, you'll see an error message. If not, you have a parity error in your first 64K of memory. First check your SIMM's. Reseat them and reboot. If this doesn't do it, the memory chips may be bad. You can try switching the first and second banks memory chips. First banks are the memory banks that your CPU finds its first 64K of base memory in. You'll need to consult your manual to see which bank is first. If all your memory tests good, you probably need to buy another motherboard.

Amber light on the motherboard is on i hear several beeps and it doesn't boot up

Usually beeps emitting from the computer indicate a memory error.. Try to re-seat the memory modules. If that doesn't work then try removing 1 module at a time to see if you have a bad memory stick.

I have a Dell XPS 600 desktop computer. I cannot get the power to stay on. None of the diagnostic lights light up. I have checked all of the connections and everything is secure.

Here's what to try: Disconnect everything from the motherboard except the CPU and memory. You may leave the video connected to see what, if any, error message you might get.
You didn't say if you got any beeps on startup. They can tell you what might be the problem.
If this doesn't work, remove the memory modules. The power should stay on but you'll probably get either a steady beep or a bunch of little beeps. (I don't have the Dell error codes close at hand at the moment).
If this doesn't work, you have narrowed the problem to one of three things: The CPU, the motherboard, or the power supply.
You didn't mention just what happens when you turn it on--just that it won't stay on. Error messages are helpful if you get any on the screen as are any beep tones.
