I replaced the belt but as soon as I start the vacuum I smell burning and the belt is broken?

The brush roller is clogged with debris and unable to rotate. Because of this, the new belt was unable to move and the motor shaft spun in one place until it burned through. The brush roller has to be removed and disassembled to allow the end caps to be cleaned inside.

Floor brush won't turn.

if yours is a dual motor unit a microswitch in the base of the vac powers the brush roller, additionally the carbon brushes may need replacement..far cheeper than a motor.
or your belt may be stripped or streched due to string or hair binding the bearing

My roller bush won't turn ever time i put a new

1) you need a little tight the belt, with the bolts of motor.
2) you must shure if the belt if NOT large or short( in both cases the rollers will NOT run. can be slip. or too TIGHT. and BRAKE the motor.
3) the motor you must test for brush, switch, or open winding.
4) put a little lube in the extreme of shaft rollers, see by turning at hand if they run of course unplugged the power cord.
God bless you

I have got the brush roller off but can't see how

You have to take off the bottom plate that covers the brushroll and put the belt on the brushroll. Then stick the belt into the slot going to the motor part of the vac. Then you can put the plate back on. Next, you have to take the top of the vac off. With the vac upside down, using a straight edge screwdriver and release the pressure locks. There are two on each side of the vac,one near the rear and one up near the brushroll. Just put the screwdriver between the top cover and the base and pry. It should be fairly easy. Then you can put the belt on the pulley. I use a phillips screwdriver to strech the belt to the pulley. This is the hardest part to do. The belt number is 38528-040.
I hopt this helped, Joe

THE ROLLER IS DRAGGING AND MAKING A NOISE

Your drive belt is probably streched and slipping on the motor shaft. However your bearings on the roller brush may be worn out.
Take roller brush out of power head and check the bearings at each end. If they are siezed buy a new brush.CHeck to see that your brush housing is not damaged due to heat caused by siezed bearings

Burning rubber smell when turned on. checked the belt-is ok.

Take the bottom off as if to change the belt and remove the brush assembly from the VAC. Take the ends off the roller and clean out the string and hair and whatever is wrapped around the end bushings and reinstall. Should free-up the roller Brush and stop the resistance on the belt to motor shaft. Or your belt is streched out and should be replaced, they don't always have to Break to be bad.
