Oh, you must be an Administrator, right? If there is another Administrator account on the PC, it can restore your password through User Account Settings -> Manage Another Account.
If not, I have a complex way. First, restart the PC. When it shows the HP logo when booting up, press the button for Setup (it is shown at the bottom of the screen, and it is F8 on my HP tx2001au).
Now, don't get scared by what appears. It looks a bit complex, but it is very simple and easy.
Navigate using the keyboard. Press the right button to move to the Security section. Here, press Enter on the Administrator Password option. Now enter and confirm a new password and you're done.
See the bottom of the screen for the button for 'Quit Saving Changes' and the computer will reboot. Now, I guess you can enter the new password.
If this doesn't work, see online for ways to reset a password in Vista. There are some softwares to burn to a CD and use.
If it is an XP, I guess there is nothing to do. Just press Ctrl+Alt+Del on the logon screen to see the classic logon screen. Type in the username 'Administrator' without quotation marks and the password blank. Press Enter and enjoy.

SOURCE: forgot my password for my
If your account name is only administrator, then you have to get the Ultimate bootable CD, boot from it, it will just boot like a normal xp, then right click on my computer, go to manage, select user & accounts, select the user name, right click on that, select set password, let it be empty, click OK, then done.
But if your account name is other name with administrator privilege then at the time of login keep on pressing the ctrl+alt+del, then in the user name delet the name & type administrator then press ok it will enter inside. To reset your password ight click on my computer, go to manage, select user & accounts, select the user name, right click on that, select set password, let it be empty, click ok, then done.
