How does the chain oiler work

I flushed the oil tank, blew the tubing out with air, adjusted the screw min/max and it still will not pump oil.

  • John J Davis Feb 25, 2012

Finally got the oil pump off and found the problem is the pump shaft in the oil pump which runs off the spiral screw off the main shaft was stripped or ruined. Consequently the pump will have to be replaced.

SOURCE: chain oiler replacement

If it is Stihl 025 the chain oiler is on the bottom.First check if the worm gear(under the starter)is in good condition.Replace the starter(blocking the piston in the cilinder with a rope with many nods, that rope entering in the sparkplug hole). On the handle there are 4 screws on the right side (under 4 black plastic plugs,at the bottom 2 screws.)CUnlock them and take off the handle. At the bottom you can see the chain oiler( under the hose) the mark for right possition is there.Take off the oiler using a screw(lock clockwise into the oiler)and then pull it out.Clean with compressed air the oil hole.Put back together .Succes!

SOURCE: chain oiler

Saw dust has clogged the passage way in the bar. take the bar and chain off and clean the groove where the chain runs, also near where the bar mounts to the saw there are holes in the groove that intersect with cross holes in the center of the bar, push a paperclip through top and bottom.
If this works for you please leave a rating, thanks

SOURCE: chainsaw oiler leaks oil out case and no oil on chain

Take the bar and chain off--run the engine--the oiler port from the case should discharge some oil. If none, you have trouble with the oil pump or the tubes to and from it. The oil tank may be leaking at the tank opening for the pickup tube. If oil appears at the oiler port, then there may be dirt/blockage within the oil passages in the bar end. Clean with compressed air.

Chain slipping

Resistance through the guide bar may be too much for the clutch assembly to cope with. Trust you have plenty of chain oil running through the chain and guide bar. If not, resistance will increase creating heat and eventually smoke, ultimately permanent damage to the parts. Ensure the oiler is working.

ECHO 452VL NOT OILING CHAIN

Sounds like you have a blocked oil pump. With the flow regulator fully open and no cage filter on the end of the oil intake hose its probably pulled through dirt and blocked the pump.

A good machine shop will fit a 14mm heli coil into the torn threads, this will make it as good as new, in most cases stronger than the original thread.

Brand new chain saw bought from reputable dealer. The CS600. It was missing a part on the oiler and dealer fixed. Now the clutch overheats badly, to the point it acyually smokes. Does Echo have a policy...

Not had a lot to do with Echo, but have always heard good reports, for smoke to come from the clutch cover the clutch would have to be slipping, either due to running with the chainbrake on, or useing with a very blunt chain. To make sure the brake is off, pull the hand guard fully back to the top handle.
