Question about Televison & Video

1 Answer

My TV takes about 15 minutes to start playing.

And it only starts to completely play after a few plug and unplug cycles. The first 5 minutes is just silent power on. The it starts buzzing. Then the buzzing continues to get louder and is joined with a machine type sound for about 10 minutes. When it gets as loud as it will go, intermittent words will start. When the words start flowing as loud as they will go, I unplug it (because during this time the controls do not work). If the sound comes on normal after plugging in and the controls work then it will play. If not then it must be unplugged and plugged in again until the sound is normal. Usually this takes about 15 to 20 minutes. What could be causing this?

This is a Sanyo CLT 1554-02 TV. I replaced the Mainboard and the Backlight board. It did not help.

I narrowed the problem down to the TFT Display Drive Circuit. When I unplug it, it starts and plays. However no picture. Thanks Rocky for your comment. Interliquidparts does have a screen for it.

When turned on box will only show menus and will not play TV or recordings. It gives the impression that it is trying to play in the background

i have ATT Uverse. Any problems I have had are usually solved by resetting the box. Press and hold the power button on the box until it shuts off-usually 5 seconds or so. Wait 3-5 minutes and power on. It takes a bit to reset. If that doesn't work, unplug from power supply completely. Wait 3-5 minutes. Plug back in and power on. If that still doesn't help, call ATT. The can do remote reboot, but, you will lose all recordings stored.

Turning off by itself

This TV probably needs the convergence amp IC's replaced. When they go bad the TV will not turn on.Call a good TV Tech and tell him you want the IC's upgraded to STK 392-150 instead of the original STK 392-120 and check all resistors in the circuit for proper value. They could be burned or open.

Start any cycle. Dryer runs for 10 to 15 minutes, then stops before cycle is complete. Start again, stops again in 10 to 15 minutes.

Wii console will not come on

First things first. We'll start from the beginning. Unplug the AC Adapter from the wall and from the Wii. Let it sit for 15 minutes. Then plug it back in. 9 times out of 10 your power supply needs to be reset. The only way to reset it is to unplug it from the wall and the wii and let it sit for 15 min. Try this first and report back if it worked. Even if you think you have done this already do it again.

Shrinking picture

All symptoms indicate a problem in the vertical circuit, the first thing to look for will be loose conection on the vertical output IC,sometimes this IC goes bad completly and it needs to be replaced. If you are familiar with soldering electronics you can take care of it but if you are not too familiar you can play it safe and take it to a servicer ,it will be a lot less expensive than if they come to your house.Let Us know how it goes or if you need more information.
