SOURCE: Are there hand tools you can use with Kirby shampooer?

I love my Kirby and shampooer, but I am wondering if there are any ways to clean stains in small/tight spaces (in corners, between furniture, etc)... my old carpet shampooer had a "hand tool" attachment with spinning brushes, but I don't see anything similar for Kirby... I imagine I could put a tiny bit of solution down and use the zip brush, but I'm wondering if anyone has a better idea...?

I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure.
I believe that Kirby does make a spinning brush and If I remember it is a round brush that spins and probably will not get into square corners – suggest using a scrub brush with the Kirby Shampoo for corners and steps for areas that you cannot get into – use an old spray bottle to wet down the area that you are cleaning and use the scrub brush and if you do find the Kirby spinning brush that will do the large areas. My Kirby zip brush will not spin. I cannot take it apart, any hints?

No bearing inside only brass pivot, zip brush turbines get jammed because of hair getting trapped between the two blades, simply remove top holding plastic cap, it come into 4 pieces. lay out in order cut hair off spline and re assemble

Why does the belt keep breaking on my kirby

Odds are that the problem is not with the belt or the pulley, but with an agitator (rotating brush) that isn't turning freely. Remove the rotating brush and check to see that it spins freely. If not, you would either need to disassemble it (removing the end caps) to see if removing whatever hair / diebris is stuck between the end caps and the body of the agitator, and if that doesn't cause free rotation, then it means your agitator bearings are likely bad which means you will need to replace the agitator assembly.

Take a look at the help article here. If bristles are worn you may need to install the brush roll in a different position (details HERE) or purchase a new brush roll.

There should be another wire to which it attaches nearby. If you cannot find it, do not try to 'invent' a repair...get help.

Cleaning upholstery with the Kirby?

it depends on the make of the kirby you are using but most kirby systems come with a portable shampooer and special shampoo. I would not recommend using your zip brush for shampooing purposes, the zippbrush is designed to loosen up dog hair, dirt, ect. when vacuuming. to shampoo upholstery do the following: remove bag from side of machine, place hose where bag goes, remove power head from front of the machine, place air intake valve on front of machine where power head was (intake valve kinda shaped like a pig nose with small holes on end) attach portable shapooer to end of hose and fill with water and kirby shampoo spray shampoo witch is foamy looking on whatever you are shampooing, rub into fabric w/a brush and let sit till dry. when dry turn kirby back into a hand held vacuum by putting powerhead back on front of machine and putting bag back on side of machine, then vacuum furiture. (make sure it is 100% dry before you vacuum because Kirby is not a wet vac!) Hope this helped ya out a little
