Question about Frigidaire Refrigerators
Yes your refrigerator could and most likely has a thermostat problem. Thermostats go bad in several ways, by not sensing the correct temperature, not working at all or sticking on until fresh food section becomes a freezer. Although I cannot find a Frigidaire Model RIR1450 in the US database that does not mean there is not one worldwide. Your refrigerator does have a thermostat most likely behind the control panel inside the fresh food section, Thanks Sea Breeze

SOURCE: Fridge not working
Speed, If your model number begins with 596. This is made by Amana with the Kenmore name. Look at your defrost thermostat that sits on the evaporator, see if its bulged. If it is it's more than likley your problem. Part number 12001937. Your heaters should be calrod and seldom fail. Advance the refer into defrost by turing the mechanical timer clockwise until you hear it click and see if the heater comes on. Should find the timer under the control panel, should be a slot you can use a screw driver to turn it. If the heaters don't come on you can temp. by pass the bi-metal by simply cutting it out, connecting the wires and putting it into defrost again. However, it must be replaced. This is a safety device. If the heater now comes on, it's your bi-metal. If they don't come on with the bi-metal by passed, check for 120V at the heater connection. If no voltage, its your defrost timer. Careful in there your working with live voltage...Catriver post back.

SOURCE: Defrost timer
The above URL will take you to an exploded view of the controls. Look at number 23 which will be located behind toe plate below door on the left side. That is the defrost timer. Rotate the clutch head screw Clockwise SLOWLY until you hear a loud click. That is the defrost timer starting the defrost. If the unit restarts after 18-22 minutes and defrost does not take place you problem is most likely the defrost thermostat.

You said, you recently had a problem with my Candy fridge freezer (it defrosted overnight and wasnt cooling at all) and a repair shop diagnosed a thermostat problem. I have replaced the thermostat, Now the freezer freezes without any problems but the fridge does not go cold at all.
Also the compressor is running constantly
This is my first thought
Fresh Food temperature is
too warm. Freezer
temperature is satisfactory.
1. Fresh Food control is set too
2. Set fresh food control to a colder setting. Allow 24
hours for temperature to stabilize.
3.Then see if you do not have your freezer articles packed full up to the top, or covering the cold air vents usually found in the rear of the freezer compartment.
The fridge and the freezer share the cold air so the air must not be restricted from travel form the freezer to the fridge and back!
This would also cause the compressor to run none stop trying to cool the fridge!
So check your air vents in the freezer.
I'll bet you did not know they were there !
Most of us never notice!
Hope this works for you.
Please let me know that one of these solutions worked for you!
or if you have any questions.
Thank You, huuum

You might want to check and make sure the interior fan is working above the evaporator coils. If the fan isn't working the air won't circulate over the evaporator and it will frost over very quickly, and also cold air won't be pushed into the fridge side.
The fan might turn off when the door is open, hold the door switch shut while you check it.

Tips for a great answer:
Jan 14, 2015 | Refrigerators
You have a defrost timer behind the front kick plate turn
it clockwise slowly until compressor and fans stop. Once this happens the timer
should remain off for 30 minutes and the defrost heater should come on during
the first 15 minutes. If after 30 minutes the defrost timer part=> 215846602 Defrost Timer Assembly
should come out of defrost and the compressor and fans should restart, if not
advance the timer clockwise until they start and replace timer. Try that first
and tell me what your results are. If that is not the problem then we can
narrow this down to the defrost heater=> 218657301 Defrost Heater
or 5303917954 Defrost Thermostat How to test the defrost heater is
found on same page as the defrost heater. If you have any questions I will be
here to help you, Thanks Sea
