Question about Dishwashers
I have a Zanussi DA 4131 similar to the DA4342. Not all the time but now and again it stops mid cycle on the heating point and stays with the heating element on until you come along and turn it off. For a couple of times it's been on like this for a couple of hours! But then it could work fine the next time? Is the dial sticking or is it something to do with the thermostat?

SOURCE: Dishwasher not drying
I've recently had the same problem. My theory (to be confirmed) is that the heating element is not working properly (in my case not at all). This may be the element itself or the control for the element. This, I think, may account for the machine running for so long - it is waiting for the water to reach operating temp before timing the wash cycle. This also explains why the dishes do not dry. I aim to investigate this theory over the weekend !!

Check first the filters on the inlet water line (both sides). Then, if problem still exist - check that the inlet water valve works(it is an electromagnet valve, located at the pipe's entrance to the machine)). If it doesn't work, test that it get power. In case it get power and doesn't work - You can easily open the valve and clean it (from scale or other dirt). Be aware you should disconnect the power cable from machine before doing it !!!! Check as well for valve's coil resistance. In case you have no resistance measurement - you should replace it for a new one. Good luck

SOURCE: zanussi da4342 dishwasher
The dishwasher should heat the water to about 55 C as the heating cycle starts.
In these cycle, the dishwasher pauses after has filled with water and wait for the water to reach the temperature.
If the water isn't being heated (because of a problem with the heating element or thermostat), after the unit stops at the heating cycle, it never continues.
Another possible reason is that the timer unit is defective. If you have observed anything different post a comment.
