When I tried to take a picture yesterday, I was unable to do so. The words Card Locked! appear on the screen and I don't know how to unlock the card. I am traveling and I do not have my owners manual. thanks , Rob
THERE ARE A COUPLE OF THINGS YOU MAY TRY TO SOLVE THIS. ONE IS TO DELETE SOME OF THE PICTURES ON THE CARD. THE OTHER IS THAT THERE IS A PHYSICAL SMALL SWITCH ON TH CARD ITSELF THAT MAY HAVE GOTTEN MOVED TO THE LOCK POSITION. LOOK FOR IT AND CHECK TO SEE THAT IT IS UNLOCKED ALL THE WAY. IT IS JUST BELOW THE TOP OF THE CARD AND IT IS A VERY SMALL SLIDE TYPE SWITCH. THIS MAY HAVE MOVED IN HANDLING ETC. THE CARD MAY BE FULL ALSO IF YOU DON'T DELETE PHOTO'S WHEN YOU DOWNLOAD THEM TO YOUR COMPUTER. IT IS A GOOD IDEA TO CHECK THE BOX TO WIPE THE CARD CLEAN AFTER DOWNLOAD. THAT WAY THE CARD IS ALWAYS CLEAR AND READY TO GO. IT ALSO DOESN'T HURT TO FORMAT THE CARD ONCE IN AWHILE. YOU CAN DO THIS WITH A CARD READER, YOUR CAMERA OR YOUR COMPUTER IF IT HAS CARD SLOTS. HOPE THIS HELPS. IF YOU NEED YOUR MANUAL, YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO VIEW IT ONLINE AT THE CAMERA WEBSITE. MOST MAKERS HAVE MANUALS AVAILABLE ONLINE. SAME FOR THE SD CARD. YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO ACCESS INFO ON IT FROM THEIR WEBSITE ALSO. IF YOU NEED MORE HELP, REPLY TO: ARCLIGHT1217, I'LL MONITOR FOR REPLIES.

What size is the memory card. If it's larger than 4GB then it won't work in the 5118. Try using another card. Don't format it in your computer but do format it in the camera before trying to take pictures.
There are several possible causes for "memory card locked", "memory card error", or "no memory card". The most common cause is having the tiny slide switch on the side of the card in the wrong position. The second most common is trying to use a 4GB or higher SDHC card with an older camera made before SDHC format came out. There are also other common causes if the above didn't help, with troubleshooting steps for this problem listed here. If these don't help, and you do end up having to format your card, see the recovery software, along with the corrupted card procedures in this blog article.
Usually, the write protection is on the memory card itself. You
should power off the camera, take out the memory card and move the
little switch on it's side to disable the write protection.
Does this camera take a memory card, separate from the built-in memory of the camera? If so, remove that memory card and look closely at all sides and edges, to make sure that there is not a read-only protection switch on it.
Many of these memory cards have tiny switches, sliders back and forth, that protect the memory from being erased.
If you slid that switch into the locked position without being aware that it is there, and without knowing that you did, then the error message makes sense.
Remove the memory card and look at it very carefully.

The camera is trying to access the memory card, and it can't. Make sure you are using the correct type of memory card, and make sure it isn't locked (via the lock switch). If possible, find another memory card that is the right type, and see if it works. I hope this helps!
Solution 1 Card has a protection tab, it could be in the locked position, try moving it. then try in camera.
Solution 2 use a progran like Image Rescue, downloadable from www.lexamedia.com to save images & then re format card
The card usually has a slide lock on its face, which you can switch to a lock position. This protects the images from being deleted. You may have inadvertently hit that switch. Pop the card out and take a look and see if you see it there. If so, switch it and try again and it should work.
Check the switch on the side of your SD memory card. It is a small sliding switch which has a lock position. Sounds like the switch is in the "locked" position. Unlock, reload card, & you should be good to go. If not, the card is probably damaged.
remove the memory card out of your camera and look to the side of it.. there is a little switch on the memory card that locks the card... try that first it might not be your camera... :) good luck :)
