If your SU is an Air Electronic model i.e. 80's model, Elna didn't make a walking foot to fit. However, if you've got a walking foot that is the same height from sole plate to the screw fitting as a standard Elna foot then you could give it a try. The walking foot connects to the presser bar with a screw but the needle bar also needs to hook into a secondary lever on the side of the walking foot to make the foot actually move. Probably sounds very confusing . Check the movement of the foot manually by hand turning the fly wheel to see how it works before you actually use with the motor to minimise any problems if the foot doesn't fit.

Also you'll probably only be able to do straight stitch with this foot due to the clearance around the needle plate.

For clarity I'll try to explain this further. The Walking foot looks like this
Elna walking foot - 10_14_2011_10_38_12_pm.jpg

You need to remove the normal ankle that holds your pressure feet if your machine has clip-on style pressure feet. Or on older machines with one piece feet, remove the whole pressure foot. There will be a thumb screw holding the ankle in place. Unscrew it. Now place the walking foot facing you like the image above with the clamp wrapping around the pressure bar where the ankle was, put thumb screw back into hole and tighten until firm. IMPORTANT: place the moving arm the protrudes from the walking foot ABOVE THE NEEDLE BAR, so that as the needle bar goes up and down to make stitches, it will also move this lever.

This action is what drives the walking foot - the foot has feed dogs (just like those under the needle plate on your machine) and these grip move forward and release the top layer of fabric to aid even stitching of thick projects like quilts. If you move the lever up and down you will see how it works.

Hello, Please can you tell me how to lower the dogs teeth on Elna SU airelectronic 68 so as to do free hand embroidery. Thank you julie Roberts

The owner's manual would have that information. If you don't have it, here's one:

Instruction Manual Elna 68

unfortunately, Elna manuals are usually not free

You could probably also ask your Elna dealer how to do darning on your machine. You will also need a darning or free motion quilting foot for your machine. Your machine either has the ability to raise/lower the feed dogs or the machine came with a darning plate to cover the feed dogs.

I need an Air foot control # 436310-20 for my Elna Stella TSP air electronic. How and where I can get this part?

I'd suggest www.sewingpartsonline.com if you are in USA.

https://www.sewingpartsonline.com/air-foot-control-elna-436410-20.aspx

Or you could try the Elna Guru, White Sewing Center www.whitesewingcenter.com, he's the specialist supplier for all things Swiss Elna.

The air control foot is the same for all the Elna Air Electronics, whether Stella, SU, TSP, TX etc.

Did Elna Carina SU 66 originally come with a straight stitch foot and throat plate?

No, the Carina came with a standard zig zag plate and 5 feet I think from memory, the teflon coated foot , the embroidery foot, buttonhole foot, zipper foot and darning foot.

How do i fix a n elna su that will not stop after releasing the foot pedal

I'm guessing this is an Elna air electronic SU? If yes, then the problem is with the diagram inside the right side of the machine where your air control foot pedal tube feeds in. I havent' done this repair myself, I took mine to my favourite sewing machine technician. But if you are technically able, try joining the Yahoo Group called Elna Heirlooms, and then go through the threads there, there's been discussion on this repair before.

What make of walking foot would fit my Elna su air electronic sewing machine, thankyou

You need a low shank style walking foot. Even back in the 80's when your SU air electronic was new, the walking foot sold by Elna was an after market one, and not made by Tavaro. Same with the ruffler attachment, it was after market and actually fitted quite a few makes of machine.

I would just ask the dealer/shop if they will refund your money if you find it doesn't work just in case.

There is a low shank one on sewingpartsonline.com
http://www.sewingpartsonline.com/walking-foot-low-shank-p60444.aspx and they list the SU as compatible with it.

Take off the foot holder on your mache, and you need to fit the little open ended arm over the needle bar and the foot bracket onto the foot with your machine's regular thumb screw. The up and down movement of the needle bar operates the walking foot.

I purchased an Elna 7000 on E-Bay.Wonderful machine. I also purchased a 492000-20 walking foot for it. I can not find instructions on how to attach the walking foot to the machine.

I'm assuming that this is a generic style walking foot for low shank machines and it will fit your Elna?
To attach it, you will see a long lever arm at the front of the foot and the little curved bracket at the back of the foot.

Remove your usual foot and the clip on foot holder by undoing the thumb screw. Now fit the walking foot on instead by putting the lever arm around the needle bar and the curved bracket around the pressure bar and then putting the thumb screw back into place and screw up tight to hold the foot in place. Now lower the pressure foot and manually wind your machine forward a few stitches. As the needle bar goes up and down, it should move the long lever arm too which works the walking foot teeth gripping the top layer of fabric with each stitch.

Trust this helps.
