My replacement bulbs keep burning out within 30 days. I took a closer look and there is a small square piece of glass that sits next to the lamp housing. It looks as if the light from the lamp goes through...

Something is definitely wrong if you are consistently only getting a month out of a bulb.

Either something is overdriveing the power to the bulb (unlikely) or there is a vibration or something is intruding on the bulb itself.

Good luck and let us know what you find on this.

Lamp burning out every 2-3 months. Fan is okay

Hi anna,
Make sure you have plenty of clearance between the tv and the wall...if not it will keep sucking in the heated air and cause the bulbs to blow.

Lamps only last Between 5,000 hours some last 8,000 hours
So what that means For Every hour TV is Playing it is burning up hrs of lamp. These sets are not like projection that you can run day and night .
Most Lamps need replacing every 2 yrs Depending on how many hours you watch TV?
It could be that the Lamp you have is defective ,Mats has Lamps for $99.00 1-800-628-1118
Get New Lamp then see if that corrects the problem.

Lamps keep going out. 4 since 2006

This is happening because the "Root Cause" is NOT being fixed, the "Lamp: is a SYMPTOM, NOT the "Cause". Replacing the Lamp is just spending good money after bad....Unfortunately there are quite a "Few" causes for it. If it has been done "Professionally" then they HAVEN''T done their job properly.

It keeps shutting off. Anywhere from 2 or 3 times

Could be several things. First replace lamp.Remove lamp door and put it back on making sure tab on door presses door switch downward when closed. Can you heard spinning noise from front. Bad color wheel will cause shutdown. Look at big cap on ballast . iff swollen replace lamp, ballast and power board. Is voltage to ballast from power board below 350 volts if so replace power board. hope this helps. Most common are lamp and door switch in up position rather than downward .

TV turns off..lamp light flashs

I have one of these. It sounds like your projection light bulb has burned out & it needs to be replaced. Last time I checked (2 years ago), they were about $200. They are not hard to change if you are handy. Follow the directions, do NOT touch the bulb with your bare hands, use gloves or the oil from your hand will cause it to burn out prematurely. If you are not handy, call for a repair person.

Lamp keeps burning out. I have had the tv 2 years. The original lamp burned out in 1 year. I have since replaced the lamp at least 3 more times in the following year. Help!

Hi.

Im not at all familiar with your sony model but I do know that when A lamp is replaced you must reset the lamp timer if it is not reset it will cause premature lamp failure.
This is normally in the engineers menu as I said I dont know your model its not one I recognise so im sorry but I cant tell you how to enter service mode.
Hopefully one of the techs on here will know how and help you.
