Re: Fuse

Agrivated, looks like the fuse 18amp is in the back on top. You will have to remove the shell off the microwave to get at it. This one operates with a have some high voltage there. Make sure it's unplugged. While you have it apart, check the primary switch, top one on door latch. If the monitor switch finds this closed when the door is opened it will blow that fuse. You also have a cavity thermal cut out that will shut the oven down. back.

Interior light bulb burned out previously; now no power at all.

I have had to change the fuse in a handful of my microwaves, usually when they get to be about 10 years old.If you take the housing off,you should find an inline fuse holder on the power cord just as it enters the housing.Read the info on the fuse, and replace it with the same size/type(the ones I've seen are ceramic fast acting fuses)I also like to take another spare and tape it inside the housing near the fuse holder so I don't lose the spare.

Is there a power fuse on a MCD1611?

Yess there is a ceramic 20 amp 250 volt fuse inside the cabinet. Safety first!!! Unplug the microwave from the wall outlet.

If you remove the four T20 Torx screws that hold the case on(back of cabinet around the edges) and carefully slide the case back and up you can access the fuse. It will be on the circuit board near where the power cord enters. If you have a ohmeter you can check the fuse. The ceramic fuses are not clear so you cant tell a blown fuse by looking.

As i turn on microwave it blows the fuse. what could be the reason.

try using it at a different location in the house(different circuit) if it also blows that fuse, there must be a short in the unit. do not use. if it works means line in the kitchen is overload, and you need a higher fuse rating or breaker.

Makes a loud humming sound and blows fuse behind controll panel

Most likely a shorted capacitor is causing the fuse to blow. Easy and cheap to fix.

It may be the internal fuse, or the thermal fuse / thermostat / thermal cutout on the magnetron. If you or a friend decide to work on it, we have *critical* safety, disassembly, and troubleshooting info at our site, which is linked at our listing here on FixYa:

GE Space Maver MIcrowave

If it blows the fuse as soon as you hit START, you probably have a high voltage capacitor shorting. If it blows a fews secondfs after you press START it probably has a bad high voltage transformer. If you or a friend decide to work on it, we have *critical* safety & disassembly info at our site, which is linked at our listing here on FixYa: You can find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your model number here: You might also double-check the magnetron. The technical sheet inside the oven shows you how to check it.
