Question about Mitsubishi VS-45609 TV

1 Answer

Convergence board About two months ago my mother in law turned off my Mitsubishi VS-45609 45" projection television during a lightning storm. When we turned it back on the color in the screen was off. We have red lines and "ghosting" in the picture. My first thought was to check the menu for video settings but none of these fixed my problem. My husband called the manufacturer who said the convergence board was bad. I called the manufacturers parts line to order a new one and they do not have a listing for the part. She said the convergence unit may be on a board with other components in the television. I dont know anything about televisions. Please help me get my T.V. fixed we miss it terribly.

Re: convergence board

It wouldn't be the entire convergence board, you more than likely have a bad convergence STK-IC. Replacing the IC will take a good bit of knowledge and training as far as electronic repair is concerned, plus a complete convergence set up. In other words, unless your certified, you need to contact a tech. The convergence set up alone has driven men to drink.....

I thought i might need a lamp for my mitsubishi tv--model VS 60607 when my tv is fuzzy when turned on.should i simply replace the lamp or is there something else i should try? thank you!

This TV is a rear projection television and does not have a lamp. It has three CRT color guns (Red, Blue, and Green). You have a convergence issue (the red, blue and green color guns aren't aligned properly) and it doesn't sound like a very big one. You should be able to adjust this through the CONVERGENCE Menu in ADVANCED SETTINGS.
More details can be found in your manual, here. The model number isn't exactly the same but I'm sure the process is identical or really close. The other option would be a bad IC (integrated circuit) for the convergence control. This is unlikely unless your picture looks something like this: captainhawk1_15.jpg

The picture looks like 3D on my mitsubishi projected tv

You may be having a convergence problem. Convergence focuses the different color guns of the tv. This is usually a way to set the convergence via your menu. If this doesn't work, you may need new IC chips. This is fairly expensive. It cost me around $300 last time I had it done and it was hard to find anyone to do it. Good luck!

I have a Mitsubishi VS-60607 Tv and it started out

Without going in with troubleshooting equipment it is hard to determine if the problems are related or not but it is unlikely since you seem to have a video problem and a convergence problem , which are two separate circuit(signal processing and deflection). Hope this help.
Please do not rate this answer(unless it helps)as it is only a suggestion.

Won't turn on

The part number is STK392-110 and if you google you can find them for as little as $6/each but I don't recommend the cheap ones as they are not reliable.

This website:

says your model uses the STK393-110 convergence chip. Another site I looked at said that was a 6 channel amplifier so I'm guessing you only need one to repair your TV.

If you do some google searches on "stk392-110 convergence problem" you'll find some good sites that discuss how to repair the tv. The STK392-110 is a convergence amplifier that is used any many other sets.

Good luck.

Mitsubishi vs-4543

Most likely the convergence output IC has shorted out and has overloaded the convergence power supply, which has stopped working. The computer senses that the convergence power supply is not running and shuts the set down. The convergence IC should be replaced, the power supply restored and the convergence circuits realigned by someone experienced in Mitsubishi projection sets. When I do a housecall for a set like that I charge $150, but shops in your area will vary so ask around.
