Question about Polar Exercise & Fitness

Polar F11 not responding

Hi: I have the Polar F11 for almost 3 years. Back in January I had the battery replaced with an authorized Polar Service Center. The other day I was using my HR Monitor when the screen just froze 10 minutes into the workout. I can't press any buttons to stop the workout or go back to any screen. My question to you is if there is a way to repair it or do I need to get a new monitor?

Hello glmatta, The unit can be repaired. Remove the units battery. Remove the screws holding the case together. Carefully open the case on a table covered in cloth, T-shirt type cloth, disconnect the flat ribbon cables, lightly clean with a #2 pencile eraser, reinsert cables. Use the same steps on PCbd pin connections. Important question, Do all of the buttons have the same amount of snap when pressing & releasing? If not you have a bad keypad. A bad button swith will cause tis type of malfunction. Contact the Mgfr requesting technical support for possible replacement part and cost.

Really the only thing to do is send into a Polar Authorized Service Center. If you did this for your battery replacement then you have a warranty and the service is free. If you used a regular watch place or did it yourself (never recommended) then something could have been damaged inside.

Two problems with my Polar F6: 1. There is some fade on in the bottom right of my watch. That occured before my battery was replaced. 2. After my battery was replaced the heart rate has been off by 30-60...

Yes, it is a problem with the installation of the battery. If you did not send the watch into an authorized service center then you should do so this time. It is very easy to damage the circuit boards in the watch if not done properly, plus there is a service warranty when going through the service centers. The fade was most likely from the battery dying, but could also have been from a degraded seal and moisture issues.

The screen has turned very light to the point where you can barely see the readout.

I just put a new battery in the Polar F4 heart rate monitor watch and it does not work. The battery died about 2 years ago and I never replaced it until now. How can I get the heart rate monitor working...

This is a common issue. The Polars and other Heart Rate monitors are not designed to be fixed by the consumers except for very specific models. These only look like watches, they are in fact mini computers and very susceptible to internal damage if not handled properly.

You need to send the unit it to a Polar Authorized Service Center to have fixed properly. There is not reset within the computer, if you had done everything correctly then it would work.

I tried to change the F6 battery, but after putting all together I'm haveing a spare part. It's a small clip of the same metal that keeps the case toghetner. Do you have any idea where I could try to put...

The Polar watches are not designed to be taken apart. It is a common misconception to think of them as watches and not mini computers.

The best case scenario is too send your watch and clip into a Polar Authorized Service center. Polar headquarters are in Finland and their should be a close center for you in Oslo.

Another thing, when you change the battery yourself the watch loses it's seal and is not watertight anymore. Polar uses a special vaccum chamber to repressurize the seal to maintain watertightness.

The only solution is too send into a Polar Authorized Service Center. Regular watch shops are not equipped to diagnose and/ or fix problems with Polar watches, or most other Heart Rate watches for that matter.
