You need to firstly have an HPGL2 card in your machine with the additional 128Mb ram chip. Secondaly you need to do an advanced head alignment and thirdly in your drivers set your memory to "not run out of memory" under the advanced tab.

How do i go about printing different size of photos? they are all different sizes.

There are two basic ways to change the print size of your photos/documents.

1. You can go to file/print or you can press cntrl + p on your keyboard. the print menu will come up. go to properties/features. when it opens, look for resizing options. Under resizing options you will see print at actual size and scale to paper size. Select scale to paper size and list box will activated. Select the paper size to scale to from the list. If you are not familiar with paper sizes then this list introduction should do. The conventional official paper size is A4, half of that is A5, and half of that is A6.

2. other procedure is to right click on the photo/image and select print. a print wizard will pop up. it will ask you to chose size of images.

Good luck,

Ryan

Printed text is very small, not legible and does

Go to to print menu box i.e. press ctrl P. Look for zoom. There you will see "scale to paper size." Here select from the drop down list "no scaling" or "A4" depending your paper size. This shoule correct it.

In case you do not see these on your print menu click "properties" on your printer. In the box that appears look for "scale" and make it 100%. These are the components that control percentage size of original documents printed.

How do i get full size 24 x 36 at 1/4" scale?

I just ran through the HP site and it now appears that the GL2 code is an upgrade item.

I also now believe that you need to be able to manipulate the image in an application such as Adobe PhotoShop family or Adobe Illustrator.

So we come back to exactly what are you tyring to do? How is the image being sent to the printer"? Does your printer driver allow you to do "NUP" printing as in "4UP". This allows the printer to automatically reduce the image of 4 pictures on the 24X36 page.

How do I change the print size on my D4160 hp printer

There basically two approaches to changing the print size of your printer whether D4160 printer or any modern other particularly hp printer.
1. Go to file/print or simply do ctrl P on your keyboard. The print menu pops up. Go to properties/features. When the features tab opens look for resizing options.
2. The other procedure is to simply right click on the image and select print. A print wizard pops up. It enables you to chose size of images and automatically fits them into 1 per page, 2 per page or 4 per page depending on how many images you selected in the first place. However this is meant specifically for images/photos.
3. Again you may decide to physically resize them in the application (Word, CorelDraw etc) you are working with before sending print.

Broken printing

Try first replacing the ink cartridges. If you have done that already you probably need to do a printhead or carriage calibration. Below I have incuded a link to a free HP Service Manual to help walk you through it.

Hope that helps you.
