Kenmore oven model 790 error code f1
The F1 error code in most of the Kenmore 790 models means the control is not sensing the temperature properly. The tech sheet advises us to disconnect power for 30 to 60 seconds, and after power is reapplied if F1 is still present, replace the EOC (Electronic Oven Control).Mar. 15, 2010
F1 is a common failure on a lot of ge oven controllers. Although sometimes it is caused by a keypad failure. The test is to disconnect the keypad, power up the oven with the keypad unplugged ... see if you get an F1 ... may take a while ... 30 minutes or so. If you still get an F1 then the problem is with the oven control board. If so, we can repair the board for you. Bruce www.fixyourboard.com
It sounds like your microprocessor in your control board is damaged. You can leave the power off for as long as a week to see if it will reset. If it comes up the same way, it's an electronic problem with the display driver. Frigidaires usually display an "F1" code. Any way, power down, wait at least 3-5 days, power up, clear, reset time and see how it goes. If it happens again, you may have to get a new oven control board/display.
F1 means it is a defective eeprom. The software is incorrect. Replace EOC. Check inside the bottom drawer on the right side: there was an envelope with the troubleshooting and maintenance diagrams in it.
According to the manual, the self cleaning latch could be stuck.
If the oven door is open, press STOP/CLEAR to clear display, then depress and hold switch plunger for 6 seconds (Located in the upper right corner of the oven front) and the oven door will unlock.
If the oven door is locked, press STOP/CLEAR to clear the display then apply pressure to the upper right corner of the oven door and the door will unlock. If the "F" code reappears, contact a Sears trained repair specialist.
the broiler came on automatically??? not a sensor issue. sounds as if you have a broken wire perhaps, or a faulty control panel energizing the broil element w/o being prompted to. does it say its broiling when element comes on??
