Kds Monitor - Display pulls in on each side to somewhat of an hour glass shape . A tap on the side of the monitor restores it for varying lengths of time but is BY ** MEANS a fix . I don't think I know enough about it to get inside the cabinet to try anything.

Your monitor has a fault in the pincushion correction circuit. Most likely a bad solder connection, a failed diode or capacitor. I recommend you have a repair facility fix this one.

Plastic cover

How to remove back cover of ViewSonic G71F+. First remove the 3 screws at the bottom , one on each side and one above the VGA cable. Now look for three small slots on the top of the monitor near the screen. From the side opposite the screen insert 2 medium-small flat blade screwdrivers into the center slot and the slot on one side at an angle of about 25 degrees from the top plane of the monitor then gently pry up by pushing the screwdriver handles toward the top plane of the monitor. Once the plastic latch in the center and one side are released move the screwdriver on the side to the opposite side to release that side.

Monitor screen display stretched center but squashed/narrow edges

On the monitor itself, I am guessing this is a desktop? There are buttons for adjustment. Look for the menu button around the bezel of the monitor and press it. Scroll through the settings for the default setting and press that. Once the default settings are made for the monitor, then you can go to the graphics settings available through windows to get the resolution straightened out.

PICTURE ON TV LOOKS BENT. ALL STRAIGHT LINE ARE CURVED

In order to provide a correct dianosis and cure, I will need to know the model number and in which direction the bow occurs. Does the curve occur from the top and bottom toward the center or from the sides toward the center? There are different circuits involved in these case.

Please update this and I'll provide a solution.

Thanks,
Dan

hi there, Below the monitor, on the center are option button, you can explore that in adjusting your screen display. You can widen the display, or tweak it depending on the angle that you need to. Just press the center button and choose from the menu.

Screen image display distortion

Hello.
What you are reporting is a problem in the pincushion circuit in the horizontal section of your CRT monitor. Usually this is from an electrolytic capacitor that is no longer willing to play nice with all the other components.
It is repairable, but get an estimate first. If the repair bill appears to be around $100, you would be better off to put a few more dollars with that and buy an LCD TFT monitor.
If you are quoted $25 or $30, it is probably worth having repaired. Just keep in mind that these older CRT monitors have age on their components, and once repaired, it will still be an old monitor.
Only you can decide which choice is right for you. At least now you have a few facts to help make the decision.
I hope this helps.

Problem with my Dell E771mm 17 in.CRT monitor

How far from the sides is the image? If it?s just an inch or two you can use the monitor adjustments to expand the image to the edge of the screen where it was previously. If its too far in then the only option is to have it repaired. You didn't mention where you are but in the US even a minor monitor repair that involves at tech opening the monitor is going to cost at least $45, perhaps more. That?s a lot of money for a monitor worth about $100 new so a new or used monitor may be a more cost effective option for you. Let us know if you have any other questions and please don't forget to rate this post.
