Clamp a pair of vise-grips onto the blade to act as a blade-lock to stop rotation of the blade.

SOURCE: ryobi 18v circular saw owners manual - blade is loose!

Usually there is a button to press that locks the shaft arbor and then you use a wrench to tighten OFTEN is a left hand thread!

Check for lock button behind the blade guard toward the motor.

Testimonial: "Thanks; that's the advice I got when I tracked down the number to call Ryobi. However, it doesn't seem to be working. Now sure what is wrong :("

How to change blade on skilsaw 5380

on a circular saw
pull the power lead from the plug
using a screw driver , place the blade between the teeth and turn until the screw driver is jammed under the plate
use a ring spanner and undo the nut that holds the blade on
pull the blade out and fit the new blade with the direction arrow in the right direction
replace the plate and the bolt do the bolt up tight
rotation will tighten it up
some blades have a hole in the blade in which to insert the screw driver to hold the blade , or a lock lever behind the cover to hold the armature shaft while changing the blade

How to remove arbor bolt to change blade

Best thing to do is to just rest the blade teeth against a peice of scrap wood, and use the allen key/spanner to undo the bolt. As the bolt undoes in the direction of the cut, the blade teeth should dig in and stop it turning. If the blade lock isn't working anymore, it could mean that it has broken inside, so be careful, incase there is a bit of loose metal in the gearbox, it will be quite catastrophic if it gets caught in the gears.

How many teeth blade can i put on a circular saw

You can put any blade in your saw as long as the diameter of the blade isn't bigger than your saw is made for and the hole in the blade fits the arbor properly. The number of teeth only affects the speed of cut and how smooth the cut is. Fewer teeth cut faster but leave a rougher cut edge. More teeth cut slower but leave a cleaner cut surface and edge.

How do I change the saw blade on my 2 hp 7 1/4 saw?

If the saw doesn't have a locking mechanism for changing the blade then you will have to jam a piece of wood in the teeth of the blade so that it cannot turn. Remember safety first. Ensure the saw is unplugged and wear leather gloves when changing the blade. Use a socket or wrench to loosen the nut that holds the blade on and remove the blade. Use the reverse procedure to tighten the blade.

Not cutting in straight line

Normally blade overheating. Improper blade or too few teeth for material, teeth not sharp and/or offset enough for proper width of cut. Teeth must cut wider than blade. Inexpensive blades tend to do this quickly. Other possibility: Bad bearing, check for play with saw unplugged. Blade should have little wobble. Other possibility: Saw body cracked/damaged(allowing shaft to skew) or very cheap saw unable to handle material
