Question about ASUS G2S-B1 Notebook

Asus G2S back light screen faulty

Since some weeks, during a standard work session, the screen of my G2 becomes dark. If I push FN+F7 key twice, screen turns on again, but the same faulty comes back after some minutes. I don't think it's a problem of Videocard because G2 works properly with an external Screen. How can I solve the problem ?

Price inverter for your laptop screen. Have it professionally installed unless you know hardware, static, etc. It can be a big job with some laptops being completely dismantled to access the inverter. I've done quite a few. Some laptops have a bezel that is very difficult to open. (Like working on a dollar store toy--only it costs $1000!

Thanks but for me it's not so clear your solution. My understandig is, "i have to replace inveret and this job has to be professional due to position of invert".
    Am I right ?

It may be the inverter, but it could also be a loose connection to the inverter, etc. If it is your inverter, it is not a DIY project. You might price the part for your computer (so you can decide if the computer is worth fixing), then ask a reputable tech to diagnose & fix the problem.

The diagnosis is so that you don't blindly ask them to replace the inverter. I can't SEE your computer to provide an actual diagnosis. I am merely providing information so you can decide if it is worth hiring someone since it is not a DIY project for most users.

A problem with the backlight (i.e., loose connection or failing backlight) could also cause similar problems. A tech would really have to look at your computer to evaluate between which two parts to order.

Do a system restore START--ALL PROGRAMS--ACCESSORIES--SYSTEM TOOLS--SYSTEM RESTORE and set your system to a previous date when it was working fine. Try connecting another monitor or LCD screen and see if it works fine [incase if that's ok then it's your screen for sure]
Try reinstalling your graphics driver. You can even try reinstalling your Windows OS. Now it might be your screen or video card or any other hardware problem. If the above solution doesn't solve anything then call somebody from the company.

The screen is really dark

Locate the Fn (Function) key on your keyboard. It may be on the bottom left side with dark blue letters. Locate the two "brightness" keys near the top of the keyboard. These will be in the "F" keys, possibly if F6 and F7. They should have little sun pictures or something similar to indicate brightness. Hold down the Fn key while pressing F7, or whichever "F" key your laptop uses to increase brightness. Tap F7 repeatedly until you reach the desired brightness. Fn must be held down as you continue to tap. Hope this helps.

The Back-light on your LCD screen is bad, your crystals aren't illuminating, so it is dark.... very dark.

You need a new LCD screen.

Sorry.

My screen is to dark to read. Everthing else is working. My laptop is only 4 months old.

Hello !

The most common reason for a dark screen, is a backlight problem. Your backlight or inverter board is faulty and needs replacement.

Since your laptop is under warranty, contact Toshiba for a replacement. They should either repair or replace your laptop.

Hope this helps.
