Question about Acer Aspire 3100-1405 Notebook
I have an Acer 3100 Aspire series notbook...everytime i start it up it will stay at the Windows screen trying to load...and when it eventually (i'm not really sure how long i let it do its thing over night for a few days) get to the desktop i can move the mouse around for a little bit but can't open anything then it freezes...i have no idea whats wrong with it or how to fix it. i have tried useing the windows XP disk at start up but nothing happens...if there is anything i can do to fix this problem any advise is greatly apriceated, thank you.
Try taking out the battery and booting up with the adapter only.

Ok, the first thing is to load the BIOS default settings.
Then, set the cd-rom as the first boot device, and try to start windows setup from cd.
If it loads and detects the hard drive, the it is promising.
Another way to check your system for working capability would be to use a Linux cd (kubuntu is perfect for this) and see if it loads and works correctly. The interface is very similar to windows, so you will not have prblems using it. And it has also a MEM Test as a booting option, wich I reccomend you to use.
