Remove the monitor from power for more than 10 minutes and then put it on again, the automatic degaussing circuit that built in the monitor should resolve your problem but make sure the monitor is away from magnet or powerful speakers.

What caused a black screen

I had the same problem. While rebooting the laptop the screen would be on for a few seconds after it finished rebooting then the display would go black. If you looked very carefully at the screen you could see the image was there but there was no light behind the screen to make the image visible.

I removed the black plastic display bezel cover that goes around the edge of the display screen to check out the lights and wiring. I found a small magnet that belongs inside the display bezel had fallen out of it's slot in the plastic bezel and was stuck to the inverter pcb (printed cicuit board). To fix this problem I secured the magnet into it's slot inside the display bezel with a bit of glue. After fixing the problem and putting the display bezel back together the laptop worked normally.

The magnet could possibly fall out if the laptop was closed and upside down then dropped on a hard surface. Mine did not feel very secure in the mounting slot which is why I secured it with glue.

This magnet is how the laptop knows the lid is closed. When the laptop is closed the magnet is moved closer to a magnetic switch on the inverter pcb and activates the switch. The laptop thinks it is closed and shuts off the lights behind the display screen. When the magnet fell out of it's slot and stuck to the inverter it activated the magnetic switch all the time whether the laptop was open or closed. This caused the laptop to think it was closed and shut off the lights behind the dispaly screen as soon as the reboot finished.

first remove the phone's front and back cover or case (only just remove the front and back cover you dont have to dismantel totally the phone) after removing it put a flat magnet on the top of the lcd beneath the earpiece, make sure that the magnet use is fit when you place back the cover and thats it the display will come back to normal.

Fix led displays

Check to see if the RPM/speed sensor is functioning. On some models this sensor is positioned next to the pulley on the front roller and opens and closes each time the magnet on the front roller passes the sensor.

The sensor could have failed, or it may simply be too far away from the magnet on the front roller. 1/8 " is the normal distance between the sensor and magnet. It is also possible that the magnet is missing from the front roller.

Be sure to post the units exact model# which normally starts with RBTL....

MY SONTY WEGA TRINITRON HAS A PURPLE HUE AT THE TOP OF THE SCREEN. ALSO THE CHANNEL DISPLAY WHICH IS NORMALLY GREEN ON COLOR IS NOW A RED COLOR

Hi,
This kind of problem occurs if tv screen got hit by some thing that damage internally and its irreparable, second possible cause is magnetic field nearby screen, please check any speaker or some thing that has magnet inside around tv, remove it from tv to fix purple hue at top of screen.
Unplug tv from AC wall socket for 20-25 minutes, replug back in and turn it On, this will demagnetize screen to cure the problem.

Color problem

It sounds like the set has become magnetized. It could possibly be from an external speaker magnet or some other magnetic field (ie. a vacuum motor). It could also be a malfunction in the built in demagnetizer circuit. Color picture tubes are very sensitive to magnetism. Because of this there is a built in demagnetizer circuit. If this circuit malfunctions it can cause the same problem. Turn the set off and unplug it for 30 minutes or so. This will allow the circuit to cool off and reset. Turn the set back on and see if it returns to normal. Also, dropping the set or a heavy jar can warp the shadow mask inside the tube causing the same problem. If the unplugging method does not work, have a shop check it for you. Thanks for using fixya.

At power On, the screen shows an array of colors and after a few seconds the video blank.

hi,

There are times that your TV screen exhibits color variations/problems, especially, if there are any electro-magnetic devices placed near it.

A typical example of this are hi-fi speakers, radio, mobile phones. Such devices can interfere with your viewing capacity, and may cause static on your TV screen. You may try to isolate them and see if that would help restore the normal color of your screen

Since, after some time, due to vibration from sound or movement of such equipments and due to gravity the first 3 (red, blue and green video) have the tendency to loosen some from the connections.

Go back to your TV and try pushing them in again until they feel tight again. Check you TV screen. If it continues, go to the rear of the cable box or Satellite receiver and do the same. That should bring your colors back to normal. If you are using an other type of connection, disregard this operation.

best regards,
Jazerblue

Diagonal RGB lines

It might just need degaussing. If the monitor is equipped with a degauss button, try pressing it. If not, it might eventually go away with time - sometimes when CRT monitors are moved and change orientations odd color distortions due to magnetic fields result. After a while the magnetic field fades and the colors will be back to normal.

Otherwise, upgrade to an LCD - easier on the eyes, and a lot easier on the back. :)

Color is not good around outer edges of picture

When the colors are off around the edges on a regular picture tube TV, it usually means that the degaussing thermistor's solder joints have cracked loose. Another possible cause is that a strong magnet, such as in a stereo speaker, was brought very close to the picture tube and has magnetized the tube. Resoldering the solder joints on the degaussing thermistor and demagnetizing the picture tube should put the color back to normal.
