Our Dometic refridgerator in our 1992 camper

I would start there before replacing any parts. The circuit boards require 12volts to operate the refrigerator. If you have a good 12 volts and the LP tanks are full and the flame lights but the unit does not cool then you probably have a bad cooling unit. But start with the obvious issues first.

Your fridge might be suffering from a bubble, but is unlikely. I am more suspicious that insects (dirt daubers) have built nests on the cooling fins (at the upper rear) and air flow through the fins is being blocked.

Try switching your fridge to LP mode for a day, and see if your cooling performance increases. If so, take a look at the heater, try checking its resistance. Resistance should measure 44 ohms, +/- 10%. While you are checking for insects, also take a look around the burner area of the fridge. You are looking for a white or yellow residue. This would be evidence of a coolant leak, and the cooling unit would need to be replaced.

Given the time of year, air conditioners are being used heavily, including those in trailers. If you are using your air conditioner, and trying to use the fridge as well, make sure that your electrical cord is large enough. You want to use as short of an extension cord as possible, with as heavy gauge as possible (10ga minimum). If you are using an extension cord, or are plugged into an outlet that can't meet the current demands, that will cause voltage to drop. As voltage drops, heater (in the fridge) drops with it. If the output drops too low, there will not be enough heat from the heater to power the absorption cycle for the fridge.

Has leaked out all 'gas' from the cannister to the down tube. Can this be repaired and recharged?

If by 'gas' you mean refrigerant, then yes, it can be recharged. However, in order to legally recharge a refrigeration unit with refrigerant you need a special certification from the EPA. I recommend you get a certified technician to take a look at your refrigerator

Dometic RM2652 will not cool on A/C or propane, I've checked fuses, and AC to refer. I opened the access panel on outside of Travel Trailer, and there is yellow powder on bottom, and some on heating tube....

Ammonia is just what you a re smelling as the coolant is ammonia based Your cooling unit has leaked and is done for- Sorry I had to be the one to tell you

2 choices Replace the refer or Replace the coiling unit, I would suggest replacing the refer and having a new warranty

Bottom of my fridge is leaking and has a funny smell, all fans are running but fridge is not getting cold enough even the freezer, around the freezer feel really warm?

Does it smell like ammonia. Turn the unit off if it does. Look for yellow powder on the back this would be another sign the cooling unit has leaked. The only solution is to replace the cooling coil.

Our Dometec refrigerator in our 2006 Fleetwood Sequoia pop-up camper is giving us problems. Sometimes it will cool to 32 degrees. Other times we can't get it below 60 degrees. We've checked for yellow...

It can have something to do with the wether. As it gets hotter you need more air flow on the back to pull the air up and away. You can add a fan just like the one on a computer. Also make sure the thermister inside on the coil is attached tightly to the fins in the back of the fridge. The control boards have been known to work with an inttermitent problem. The worst thing is you could have a floating blockage in the coil if this is the case it will happen more often and eventually stop working.

Fridge not cooling

If you look in the outside compartment do you see a yellowish powder? If you do, or if you smell amonia probably the cooling unit has leaked the coolant. It does not help to add coolant, it will just leak out again quickly. You will need a new fridge or to have the cooling unit replaced. If that is the problem, Dometic has a recall on some models for leaks and will pay for a new cooling unit.
