Are you able to boot in Safe mode? Have you try tapping up F8 Key during start? If you have installation or Recovery Disc then use it to repair windows..

This is most commonly a corrupt file due to viral infection or registry entry. i would recommend restore to last known good configuration then run a thorough virus scan. if unable to restore try the repair option on your windows xp disk

Compaq Preario V5245eu cant get past scrolling xp window just restarts and doesn'r get anywhere have had a c000021a fatal error warning- help please Rodger

If you attempt to install a piece of hardware or software on your PC computer that is incompatible with your system, you may see a blue screen with a C000021a fatal error warning. The easiest way to recover the Windows operating system from this type of error is to restore your computer to a previously working state.
1.Press the "F8" key on your keyboard when prompted during the boot process.

2.Use the up-and-down arrow keys to highlight the "Last Known Good Configuration" option. Then hit "Enter.
3.Use the up-and-down arrow keys to highlight the operating system version that you wish to boot up to, and then hit "Enter" again. The system will now restart to the last working version of your operating system, which will eliminate the C000021a fatal error.
Hope this helps

Philips laptop has fatal error message - system

Hello Vixen,

Sorry about the problem.

I will try as much as possible to give you a detailed steps you can try.

And they are going to be two Options.

First options is this:

If you have a Windows Installations CD.

Insert it into your CDROM Drive, then when you put on your system,

Go into the system BIOS/Setup by pressing 'Del' key or any other key (e.g F10) required to enter setup, while the system is booting.

Now look for where you have Boot Sequence or Boot Order.

Select the CDROM to be the one where the system will boot from.

then follow the On-Screen instruction and select repair.

Next Option is if you don't have the Windows Installation CD.

Put on your Computer,

While it is booting, Keep tapping the F8 Key, and this will bring up the Menu where you will have to select the different options of booting.

First of all try out "Last Known Good Configuration".

If it doesn't work, then try booting into safe mode.

If it boots in Safe Mode, then click on start---> Accesories--->System tools---> then System restore. Then restore you system to an earlier time.

Now, If all that still doesn't work, then Select Safe mode Command prompt.

When you get to command prompt, type: chkdsk or chkdsk /p and press enter.

This will scan your system for errors and correct it.

If this does not work, type scanreg .

This will scan your systems registry for errors and fix it.

If Trying All these does not work, then Go back to Option 1.

Which means you will have to get a Windows Installation CD.

I am giving you all this trouble-shooting steps with the assumption that you are using Windows XP. (Because you did not specify your type of OS).

But In case you are using Windows Vista,

then under option 1, after inserting the CD, and booting from it,

just follow the on-screen instructions and select:

"Fix what is preventing my Windows to boot Properly" , under the options.

All these are the FULL trouble-shooting steps you will need to get your system working.

But if after trying all of them out it still does not work,

Then you will have to take them system to a good technician.

Kindly keep me posted and let me know how it goes.

Thank you for using FixYa.

Good luck

Windows 98 won't boot up

Hi,
Can you run Win98 in Safe Mode? Just tap F8-F10 or Del or Esc on booting (It's different buttons on different machines) to enter Advanced Settings and run Win98 in Safe Mode. You can get access to your files, and maybe even System Restore back to a point before you had the problem?
Worth a try..

Hope this helps

Blue Screen of Death

You'll need to setup the Acer laptop to boot from CD-ROM. Push either the F2 or F10 button when booting your laptop and it should bring-up the configuration management interface. Go through the options and confirm that Boot From CD-ROM is at the top of the list on bootable devices.

Next, you'll need your original Windows XP CD that came with the Laptop. Put it in the CD-ROM Drive and reboot your laptop. You will be given two options: 1) Re-install Windows or 2) Repair the existing Windows Installation. I recommend that you repair the existing Windows Installation as this will not destroy and data or device drivers that are install on the laptop.

Good Luck!

Laptop won' boot up.

The blue screen means the system is experiencing a fatal error... a error from which it cant recover.... so while booting press f8 and boot using safe mode... then analyse the startup programs of your system using Start->Run and then typing msconfig in the window that appears and then going to the startup tab... one of your latest installed program might be misfunctioning....

I keep getting a blue screen that says fatal system error. My computer is a toshiba satellite x205-s7483. Th computer wont start up and takes forever but when it does the computer runs slower, freezes or...

it is a fatal error mostly occured in windows like xp. it is also the prevention of disturbing with the memory.
we have some tips to recover from there. first you have try to boot as last known good configuration option in the windows startup option. (you press F8 key, when the computer boots up).
if it is not working, try to boot in safe mode.
if it is also not possible, you have to go with your xp cd or operating system cd. first boot with operating system cd and go for the repair option to recover your operationg system.
