Lost word.doc while saving direct to Cruzer

I was writting a document on MS word last night. I was saving my file directly to the Cruzer Flash Drive, saving every 3 minutes or so (good habit, I thought).

The last time I saved, I got an error message that said it was closing the program and document. When I went to open the document in my Cruser flash drive, it wasn't there! Nowhere to be found.

Please help, so I don't lose my whole weekend.

Thanks,

I had the same problem. Thanks for the tip to show the hidden files--I did and a version of my file was there. I wasn't able to recover the entire document, but I was able to salvage most of it. THANK YOU!!!

There are many good tools for resolving out like issues but only some program are able to help here. One of them proved me its features. It would be useful here - repair corrupted word document.

Autosave file is seldom saved to the data drive
will be wherever it was configured in Word,
may be the last version recoverable

in Word
goto
Tools
options
file locations

and get the location for 'autorecover files'
open explorer and the last saved file should(fingersXed) be in that folder

Do I understand well that you want to recover you Word documents?

If so, after running an anti-virus (free AVG available for download on the net), and a Malware removal tool (also freely available in the net - I suggest MalwareBytes), copy you files to Notepad and them opening the MS-Word, import the text and reformat the document as originally.
When you copy your documents to Notepad all of the internal code hosted inside the MS-Word file will be deleted and only the text will be spared. Unfortunately, you will loose all the formatting data.

How do I get my document back from Lexar 8GB JumpDrive TwistTurn - USB Flash Drive

Hi Sarah... We will need to know a few more specifics before any information can be given to you. What program where you in, and what type of document were you trying to save. If you were in Microsoft Word, you can go up to the "file" menu, and look for "recent items". At that point, you would be able to open the document that you were working on, and then save it to your location of choice. What you might find simpler in the future, is to simply save documents to your desktop, and then drag them to the flash drive directly from there. At that point, you will have the document both on your desktop and the flash drive, and you can then take the documents it is still on your desktop, and move it into your documents folder...

How to add documents on sandisk 4gb flash drive

I would assume you want to save documents to the flash drive, if this is correct, plug the flash drive to a USB port on the computer and once it is detected in My Computer (or you may get a prompt for it), just open its folder and you can copy/save files from your computer to the flash drive. NOTE: you may need to format the flash drive first using your computer if it is the first time you'll be using it.

My flash drive worked perfectly last night and now doesnt light up. how can you repare it so you can see the files?

A flash drive cannot be repaired, if it brakes all the data on it is lost and the stick id good for the skip.
If you're lucky it will still have some life left in it so plug it in another pc, recover what you can of your files and junk it.

I want to put a song on my 4gb cruzer directly from the web

Hello

Ok, when you are asked to where you want to save the file which you are downloading, you just choose the brows option. With your flash drive plugged in, brows to your drive and safe it directly on the drive.

Hope this can help. If not, just leave a comment so i can give you more detailed instructions.

Kind regards
Andrea

I lost the directions for using a micro mini

Find a USB-port on your computer.
Insert the flash-drive into the USB port.
Windows will report "found new hardware", and will assign a "drive-letter" (e.g., 'A:' is your diskette drive, 'C:' is your disk-drive, 'D:' is your CD-ROM device) to the device.

Then, use "Windows Explorer" to drag-and-drop files onto the new drive-letter (probably 'E:').

Check
1. Word document .doc extension (Word 97-2003-document); this way
you can access the document even on older computers.
2. Connect the Cruzer always directly to the computer for transfers.
3. USB flash drive enough free memory (e.g. pics require a lot of memory)
4. USB flash drive has memory format FAT or FAT32
5. Have a backup on your computer on a seperate partition of the hard drive on your computer; another partition than the place where "My documents" are located. (in case you should have to restore the Operating System)

See next items how to locate your flash drive on the computer.:

Windows requirements:

When there's a drive letter conflict it can happen that the flash drive is not recognized, see:
33f62be.jpg
Once you can locate the drive and know if there's plenty of memory
free you can drag and drop your document from the computer to
the flash drive: the document on the computer will stay as well.

You can also right click on the document and next select copy.
Then select (left click) your flash drive, next right click and select paste in the field of the flash drive or any map on the flash drive.

Unable to retireve file

Not very unusual, many people do not eject their USB devices correctly, causing data loss or corruption. You can attempt file recovery software on it as you would any other hard drive. Don't use the drive any more until you attempt recovery. I use Stellar Phoenix. Good luck.
