Crosley CDE8000W Dryer has electric burning smell and shut down

When I start my dryer it makes a loud noise and the will run (still making the noise) after a while the noise will get louder and the unit will shut down. If I wait a few minutes I can start it again with the same results.. The unit also has a burning electrical smell. It is strongest in the back right corner. I did all the basic lint cleaning stuff. any ideas? is it the motor?

It is most likely the belt. the squealing noise is because the motor is turning, but the belt is not. a replacement belt is not too expensive and it is fairly easy to replace. if you need directions how to replace it, let me know

Why is Kenmore elite electric dryer making noise and has a burning smell?

If you have an older Kenmore dryer, the drum bearing and/or rollers may be failing. This would cause the drum to rotate unevenly (wobble) and possibly contact the heating elements on the rear panel. This would account for the banging noise and burning smell. Your dryer has to be serviced.

GE DPXH46GA6CC gas dryer makes large humming noise in heat cycles and burning smell

Two things are likely going on here,1- something is dragging down your motor check for a twist in the belt, idler pulley bad, belt installed wrong or wrong belt. Also check your front drum felt and glides if the felt is bunched up that will drag down the motor. Now the smell you probably have some felt or lint in the burner clean it carefully you do not want to damage your igniter.

While the dryer is running there becomes a loud noise and it automatically shuts its self off

May be your motor shutting off on its overload. If you can start it right away it may be something else but if it takes 5-10 minutes before you can start it again its probably the motor. Make sure a sock or something isn't caught in the blower wheel.

The dryer makes a loud noise and also a rubber smell develops after a 1/2 hour of use

My dryer did the same thing. I had to replace the front support glide assembly and needed 4 teflon glides.
The front part of the dryer runs over this plastic piece seen here upside down.

this part is about $50 CAN there are 4 plastic or teflon glides that fit into this.
My dryer had worn through the teflon glides and start wearing away this piece.
My dryer is a GE front load dryer. And I did get a burning smell because the dryer was wearing away the plastic. After the teflon strips wore down.
Hope this helps

Loud buzz when starting, then shutting down after 10 min.

Yes, this sounds like the motor cutting out on thermal lockout.

Dryer making loud noise

the humming noise is most likely your motor. does it overheat or shut down on you? do you smell anykind of burning? Joe

Wont start up.

Sounds like the motor is failing. The main cause of failure is overheating due to clooged venting. Is the dryer taking more than 60 mins to dry?? If so then the vent is clogged. Its likely too that the motor is covered with lint and not being able to properly dissipate its own heat, you could clean it and see if it helps but usually once they are shutting down overheated (the burning smell is the motors' internal windings being very hot) they need replacement.
