SOURCE: Flash light National PE-300SGW fails to charge

Hello,

Thanks for your prompt reply.
Yes, I solved the problem of the Flash by replacing the main Capacitor.

In fact, as an Electronic engineer, I was looking for the Electronic circuit diagram, to be able to diagnose the problem on a scientific method rather than blind guessing through the circuits.

I'll appreciate if you could provide and offer the appropriate diagrams.
Thank you, Michael Aron.

I now have a Nikon D80. I have a National Flashgun Model PE300SWG Can you advise me if this 'gun is safe to use with the D80?Nikon tell me that as long as the trigger flash voltage is o--250volts it is...

A flash trigger voltage in the 250V range is fine for most film cameras, but not for most digital cameras. The PE-300 has a trigger voltage in the 33V range, which I (and most others) would consider much too high for the D80.
BTW, "National" is a brand name used by Panasonic.

Hey guys. I use my old vivitar 728AFC flashgun on my canon 550d (T2i). the flash works but does not communicate fully with the camera, however my problem is; when set my camera ss higher than 1/200 it...

Hi, the flash in question will not work in TTL mode even though it has contacts on the bottom that may indicate that it could...... so it will work in auto or manual mode but not adjust itself. All adjustments will have to be made manually.

MINOLTA DYNAX 5400 HS flashgun manual

Since Minolta quit the camera/flash biz, Ebay is your best bet for a printed copy.
To get a free pdf file, Go to KM global website.
Select Canada, as yer country.
navigate your way to downloads.
Also check the Orphan camera website.
I have a pdf for one, but I am not allowed to give it to you here.
Try the Minolta groups on Yahoo.

What flash will fit the V3800N SLR film camera?

Pretty much any flashgun with a standard hotshoe. The 3800N is extremely basic and does not take advantage of any dedicated flash functions, so you'll find loads of cheap or even free basic manual or auto-exposure flashguns on auction websites and also on FreeCycle.

I'd suggest a basic manual flashgun as you then fully control it. Automatic flashguns try to second guess what it is you're photographing so can often over-expose the subject. You also learn more using a basic manual flash which is probably the only reason to buy a 3800N in the first place.

I am trying to locate an instruction manual for a Praktica BD24 flashgun. I managed to locate one for the camera and print it off, but so far am unable to find one for the flashgun

Check here:

http://www.ephotozine.com/equipment/manuals/Praktica/112/Flash-Gun/9

They charge for the manuals (Around $15, I think...) but it IS a manual. Most places charge for these anyway, so it's not unreasonable to have to pay for one. Hope this helps!

My flash won't charge. the yellow charge light won't go off when the camera is charged. The flash will pop open but won't flash. I have purchased and installed a new battery but it didn't solve the...

Either the internal thyristor charging circuit has failed or the flash capacitor is unserviceable.

Neither fault is worth repairing. Buy a small auto-exposure flashgun and use it in the hotshoe; they're dirt cheap and there are plenty of used ones for free if you ask on FreeCycle.

You'll need to go into the DSC-V1 menus to enable the hot shoe on the top plate of the camera and you'll find that even the smallest and least specified flashgun will give better results, but try to get one with at least two aperture settings within the range f2.8 to f8. Anything outside that range is useless to you as that's the entire aperture range on the DSC-V1. You'll also need to ensure that when taking photos, the camera is set to the same aperture as the flashgun. To do this set the camera mode switch to "A" for aperture priority mode and use the thumbwheel to select the correct aperture, the camera will choose the appropriate shutter speed. You can also use "M" for manual mode in which you set both the aperture and choose the shutter speed. At night, choose 1/60 but the actual exposure will be measured in the thousandths of seconds in which the flash is illuminated.

If you're rich or lucky you'll get a Sony HVL-F32X flashgun; it dwarfs the camera and is very powerful but everything is fully automatic with no manual overrides. For this flashgun, the hotshoe menu setting must be "OFF".
