Why sound is not installing in my computer

Argghhh!...you need to configure your sound driver to work through the correct hardware you wish to use! (The best driver(s) for that require installation (or, reinstallation), if necessary.)

Are you using the onboard motherboard ports? HDMI-cable digital sound pass through? A PCI or PCI-EX sound card? USB speaker or dongle sound circuitry?

USB uses completely separate sound software and configuration control. It's "codec" is totally different and separate from other sound circuitry drivers. Sometimes, USB PC speakers merely use USB for power--not signal. Drivers and mixers for the relevant onboard or analog card output port then still serve.

Cables connected correctly? Jacks on your stereo or TV working correctly? Very rarely cables are defective or worn out.

Microsoft Windows--right?

Not getting sound is frustrating and bedeviling at times--you likely already succeeded, though. You're sound hardware likely is OK--that's rarely defective or broken.

Sound driver software configuration likely has a "Test" feature in some menu--when configuration is correct, invoking that will pump tone through each speaker--right, then left (then satellite speaker and sub). Perhaps more than one set of configuration settings are relevant, too. Make certain that the configuration settings you need are made visible in your mixer configuration, as well. (That's not always a "given.")

Know which sound system you're using--find then which drivers and configuration you need!

AMD Linux tips: The AMD HDMI driver for passthrough requires the binary "non-free" driver from AMD--open source drivers currently won't pass through HDMI signals. Enable the "non-free" repository. That's the way AMD desires it. They currently won't cooperate with the community on the open source HDMI sound driver (AMD won't yet provide source code--something upon which the community insists before they will collaborate directly on creating drivers--reluctantly, they will assent now, though, to allowing AMD (and others) to create proprietary binaries for our use--the community won't directly support them, though). Video passthrough likely will work nominally, though--providing video sans sound....

Another Linux sound tip--you need the correct "backend," codec, and mixer software for the sound software used--gstreamer, phonon, Pulse, ALSA, OSS, Jack, etc. Often, this proves necessary for initialization, enabling, and configuration in the first place. (Perhaps a simple "check" in a box is all that's needed--you may need to "tinker" in order make such a simpleton solution visible and usable, though.) The situation changes over time. Pulse is the default now--ALSA may serve up better, more usable mixers than the comically overly-simplified ones provided for Pulse....

I want to install drivers in Intel DG 31 Pr bord drivers at red hat Linux

The drivers for it should already be in. If they are not then you are using an old version of Red Hat - update it. Or you could install another Red Hat derivative distro like Mandriva.

Want to swap hard drives from a systen not working

I have a lot of experience with Linux. Linux is totally free and the discs not only contain the OS, but every conceivable program you might need. Linux is a federation of engineers that work together. It comes in different "disrtibutions" and they are renewed once a year. Mandriva 2009 Spring edition was just released and is one of the most popular one, another is Ubuntu 9.04 which was released mid May this year. I find it to be the better of the two. The Linux encourages their clients to copy and distribute. If you are interested, I can send you a copy. You can also have two OS´s together and switch from one to the other. This is how I operated for over two years, until they perfected their system. Thank you very much for considering our service...

M2A-VM Audio problems

Asus does have Updated software for, Realtek ALC883 Audio Driver V5.10.0.5404 for Windows 2000/XP & 64bit XP (WHQL).
Dated: 2007/09/24
There is also an update for the Bios which includes an Update Realtek PXE ROM to V2.08 dated 2007/12/4. To look at these updates & others click the link below. The link will open to your board with Linux opened. Just click, Latest or All at the top of the window.
http://support.asus.com/download/download.aspx?SLanguage=en-us&model=M2A-VM&type=map&mapindex=7
If the updates do not help remember your board is warranted for three years through Asus. You can call Asus Tech at: 812-282-2787. IL EST. It sounds to me that the onboard audio chip is going. I checked all FAQ's & found no complaints about the onboard sound.
Hope this helps & leads to a fix..
please vote... Luck!

Audio driver problem

You should install the Chips drivers or intall all the driver in series listed in your CD Utilities. Its good if you download the latest drivers of your system at www.asus.com or here: http://support.asus.com/download/download.aspx?SLanguage=en-us

You should download for 64x2 drivers.
