Question about Maytag 24 in. DWU7402 Built-in Dishwasher

1 Answer

Leaking dishwasher I have replaced the rubber grommet around the soap dispenser latch and have double checked it for leaks. It is not leaking and I suspect that was never my problem. The water is coming from the lower right hinge area.I do not qualify for the maytag recall.I have never used the rinse aid dispenser but find it peculiar that there is no rubber washer in sight.Could I have a bad door seal? Hi there,
dishwasher leaking might be due to either of these causes, check these:

Main tub seal
Note… If the main motor of your dishwasher is mounted vertically, beneath the center bottom
of the dishwasher, the following instructions probably apply to you.
But if your motor is mounted horizontally, the pump isn't serviceable--you need to replace the
entire pump and motor assembly.

The main tub seal is beneath the drain impeller. It prevents the water in the dishwasher from
leaking out near the shaft of the motor. To get to the seal, which is inside the dishwasher,
remove the:

* Lower rack
*Spray arm
* Spray arm support
* Wash/drain impellers

Then try the seal out of its housing and replace it.

Door gasket or seal
Over time, door gaskets and seals harden and lose their ability to seal properly.
You can't repair the seals. You need to replace them if they've begun to leak.

Water-inlet valve
The water-inlet valve, itself, seldom leaks. But, the water-supply line from the house and the
rubber tube leading from the valve to the inside of the dishwasher may leak. Tighten
or repair/replace these as necessary.

The water-inlet valve could mechanically stick open. When that happens, the water continues
to flow into the dishwasher, which then floods your kitchen. Turn off the water supply to the
dishwasher, and replace the valve.

Hoses
Behind the lower access panel on your dishwasher are several rubber or plastic hoses. If the
leak appears at a connection, try a new clamp. If that doesn't work, replace the hose.

Why does it keep dispensing soap?

What do you mean "keep dispensing soap"? Is this a GE dishwasher with an automatic soap dispenser? Or do you mean that the soap lid won't latch or stay closed? Or are you talking about the rinse-aid dispenser leaking rinse-aid (which is fairly common)?

How to stop dishwasher from leaking out of the bottom left corner?

follow the next steps and fix it. God bless you
Dishwasher Not Leveled

This is a very common reason for a leaking dishwasher especially if this was a new installation. The framing in a dishwasher is made up of mostly thin sheet metal, so if it is not sitting flat and level things can get distorted very easily. Watch the video on leveling your dishwasher.

Door Seal

This is not very common in most dishwashers. To check this look for rips and distortion of the seal. If it is ripped or distorted you will need to replace.

Dispenser Seal

This is a more common place for a leak to develop. This is easy to check, remove the front panel and carefully inspect around the seal for water dripping or stainage. If any is found replace the dispenses ed19f28b-0f72-4aa8-a09e-69699854be01.gifgasket.

Water Inlet Valve

Usually it is the connection to the water inlet valve that ends up leaking. Check this connection ( there is usually some sort of adaptor between the valve and supply hose) for leaks. Check the connection on the back of the water inlet valve also. Ocassionaly a water inlet valve will leak around the solenoid in this case replace the water inlet valve.

Drain / Circulating Pump

Some dishwashers have separate drain and circulating pumps Some use one pump to serve both purposes. In either case you will need to check the housings for leaks along with all the connections. Some dishwashers have a seal that leaks down into the pump . This is easy and inexpensive to replace. Follow the tutorial on replacing the pump

Door Latch

The door latch can become loose or misalinged. Check both the striker and the latch. To adjust the latch you will need to remove the front panel and adjust the switch until properly aligned.

Door Hinges

They can cause problems, but this usually only happens from opening a heavy load of dishes on the door. Occassionaly a broken spring or cable occurs. You will need to remove the toe kick and maybe the front panel to inspect.

I have a leak coming from bottem of door only on rinse cycle

If this is a MayTag check the seal around the soap dispenser latch. That seal may have a small crack. You can also take the inside cover of the door off. Then you can see the water marks to see where it is coming from. Mine was the soap latch seal. Cheap fix

During dishwasher cycle soap dispenser won't open. at the end the soap tab is lying on the floor of the dishwasher.

Remove the door inner panel and check the dispenser door solenoid for free movement along with the latch mechanism. Water can enter through a leaking seal and corrode the interior of the solenoid causing sluggish or non-functioning of the latch. Change the solenoid if it seems sticky and can't be fixed by cleaning the bore and plunger (don't apply oil as it will gum up the operation after a while).

The insultation on the bottom of the door is wet. My repairman said water is getting behind the soap dispenser and the rubber gasket around the dispenser is hard. The dishwasher is only 4 years old. Is...

Yes it is possible, and depends on your water hardness. An easy was to check is to use a silicone caulking product and caulk around the dispenser. Let it cure fully before using the diswasher. Check for leaks.

Dishwasher door leak

Hi

Over time, door gaskets and seals harden and lose their ability to seal properly. You can't repair the seals. You need to replace them if they've begun to leak.

Also,The latch on many dishwashers is adjustable. If your door is easy to close but difficult to latch, adjust the latch to let the door close more easily. If you can't see any way to adjust the latch, yours may be fixed in a certain position. Check for other reasons for the latching problem.

If the latch has worn out in a way that makes it impossible for you to close the door properly, you probably need to replace the latch.
A Fixya rating would be appreciated if you have found this solution Helpful.

Thanks
Rylee
