When trying to generate electricity, it stalls. Oil level good and carb has been cleaned thoroughly. Linkage for auto throttle up is moving like designed. Any thoughts?

will assume it a petrol not a diesel

that govenor is adjustable
with all the load and vibration and use
sometimes that govenor adjustment will need a twig

lever moving up and down is a good sign
does it need a spark plug
or valve adjustment
if all that is ok
if you push that lever slowly full forward and motor stalls
may tell you its govenor needs a twig

I am removing a Kohler engine from a simplicity lawn tractor. I was told that the govenor gear inside the engine is not working because the engine just started racing (RPM's) I check teh linkage and...

While there may be a governor, I doubt that is the problem.
It is more likely just the linkage to the carburetor.
And you don't have to take the engine out to get to the carb.
Take the air cleaner off, and examine the carb butterfly.
There is a choke fast idle cam that is probably not in the correct position.

The auto throttle doesn't kick on, runs full boar constantly

This is likely a govenor problem. Some of these problems are caused by a lost spring on the govenor linkage.

I had to repair pull cord, in doing so I took the throttle linkage carborator linkages off to get to the pull rope housing. I need schematics to show all the throttle control springs wire hook up to get...

go to and look up the actual engine number. they have a section for lawn and garden and in there there is a link to their parts lookup and they are very detailed. but you will need a pulse tach to set the govenor back to where it was and if it spun the govenor open too far due to the govenor not being hooked up, it could have came apart inside the motor and you will need to take it to a shop. as far as setting the govenor once you get it all back together, you need to push the throtle wide open and turn the govenor shaft in the same direction then tighten it down. yeah its not hard if you have done it before but if you havent and cant understand what i just said, save your time, and engine and have a shop fix it. and i havent seen a motor in my 9+ years that you had to remove all of that to fix a recoil rope.
