Question about Televison & Video

2 Answers

My clock has been set manually. Yet, it has twice set itself back one hour twice in the course of last week. Meanwhile, I have the timer set for a 4-day recording. I do I set the timer off so I can re-set the clock and which television station do I use in my area to set it to Auto (I live in West Palm Beach, FL 33412)? I have a GoVideo DV2130.

Hi,

To my understanding:

  • the timer you are concerned is on the GoVideo DV2130;
  • you need a TV station in your area to reference an automatic update of the clock (Auto Setup to instantly set the time and search for channels);
  • you are programming the GoVideo DV2130 to do a 4day recording.
A few ideas to address your concern:
  • On the very first time that the unit was setup, it will automatically search for the TV channels and a TV channel that it can use as a reference for the clock. Since you posted that you have to manually correct/set the clock indicates that there are no TV stations within your area that serves as some sort of "beacon" to update or be reference for the auto correction of the GoVideo's internal clock;
  • A possible way of providing a workaround is with the use of a UPS (uninterrupted power supply) similar to the ones used by PCs. The idea is even in the event of a power failure/interruption, the GoVideo wold not loose power and therefore the clock would continue;
  • seek the services of a qualified professional to partially modify the timer circuitry of the GoVideo and attach a back-up rechargeable battery;
  • the only reset I am aware of is by pressing and holding the FF & REW keys on the front panel for five seconds, power OFF and then ON again. This will perform a reset to factory default settings. It will also erase any programming and user settings/configurations. In effect you will have to perform the AUTO setup all over again.
Hope that this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.

My gpx td3233p tv will turn itself off after being on for several hours of use. I'm able to turn it back with no problem.

You may have set the on/off timer with your remote control at one time or another. Check the user manual to make adjustments. You can turn off the auto timer if you wish to.

Sound goes off after 15 Min

Assuming it is not hardware but soft settings...
1) Check and make sure that your TV does not have the timer set.
The Timer feature allows you to set a day and time for the TV to turn on automatically and the device and channel to display when it switches on. If the TV is already on at the requested time, the TV automatically tunes to the channel you designated in the Timer menu.
When the Timer turns on the TV, the following message is displayed: "Press a button for the TV to stay on." Press any button on the remote control within five minutes if you wish the TV to remain on.
Note: The TV clock must be set before you can use the
Timer feature (see preceding page to set the clock).
On/Off
Press down arrow / up arrow to enable or disable the Timer.
2) If not working, try SYSTEM RESET. Press SYSTEM RESET button on the front panel with pointed object (e.g. straight paperclip). TV turns off, green LED flashes for about 1 minute. When it stops flashing turn the TV on again. All settings other than Parental Lock need to be set again using the manual.
3) TV RESET. If all else fails for soft error. Your manual describes this last resort for soft type error. It could be hardware problem needing more expertise.

My LCD projection tv(KF-50E200A) displays projection lamp week when switched ON and out of red color display on the screen. Is this will happen if the projection lamp is week?

no and yes
the lamp warning is to alert you that a timer has expired that clocks the approximated life of the lamp in "hours of use".
it is never accurate and is dependent on whether or not it was reset the last time a lamp was replaced.
reset the lamp timer in the users "setup" menu.

the lamp has NOTHING to do with color, it only provides light.

check the connections between the TV and cable/satelite box...the red.green.blue component connector...the red one is likely loose.
if this does not correct you color problem, your optical engine has failed.
very expensive repair, not for the DIY type guy.

Replaced bulb last nite, green light blinks for a min. then it worked! watched a few min.turned on this morning blinking.... wont stop green blink. last nite when i changed bulb tv said change bulb reset...

Many projectors use a lamp hour timer for predicting bulb life so they can give you fair warning of impending failure. Since a bulb may be removed and reinstalled because it is still working or another used lamp installed, the timer is not automatically reset to zero when the lamp is replaced. I surmise your set is complaining because the timer was not reset or the time verified when you changed the bulb.

To fix the problem, buy or borrow a remote control; a universal remote control with a menu button may work. (If you borrow a universal remote from a friend, be sure to record the code for your friend's TV first so you can set it back before returning it.)

You could probably get back into the timer reset menu by removing the new lamp and reinstalling it. Caution: follow the directions on page 68 of the user's manual or the sheet that came with the bulb - let the set cool for an hour first, unplug, and wear gloves when handling the bulb since skin oil can cause discoloration and possibly an explosion when the bulb gets hot. You can download the user's manual from Panasonic's support page for this set.

If you can edit the timer hours instead of just resetting, you may want to set it for the number of hours the new bulb has been used.

It is likely that you can get into the lamp timer menu if the set is in service mode, but the user's manual doesn't tell how to get there (I don't have that info either - it's in the service manual, which may be available online from a third party for a price). Usually it is something like holding a volume or channel button on the front of the TV while turning it on with the remote control. After that you need the code to switch to the timer menu. If you have problems getting into the timer menu, ask your dealer's service department or try calling the Panasonic help line listed on the bottom of page 68: 1-888-VIEW PTV(843-9788).

Projection lamp is nearing end of life. What does this mean?

Most of these sets the lamp has a 2000 hour lifespan and there is a built in counter keeping track of how many hours the set has been on; Most of these sets when you change the lamp you need to have information to get into the Tech menu to reset the timer to zero.

Some sets that lamp lasts longer and some less.

Mitsubishi Projection TV model WS-65513

Good Day;
The continues blinking 99.9 % of the time is four caps on your DM board. The caps are C9B01,C9B02,C9B10 and C9B11 they use 1000UHF the upgrade caps are 680 UHF- 35V. The board is on the very left hand side (from back).
I have performed this repair at least 50 times and it takes me still about 1.5 hours. If you are not handy and do not have a solder station, I would recommend that you call a factory authorized service dealer to perform this repair. With service call and ect. it will cost you around $550.00 and the repair can be done in the home, of course prices varies across the country.
Good Luck, Day, Big Irish.

The tv shuts on and off by itself and the timer light flashes while doing so. I unpluged it for a couple of days and plugged it back in. The tv worked for about 5 hours and then it started shutting on and off again by itself.
