Re: Playstation online problem
How are you hooked up to your Internet ? is it Via a WiFi Router ? if so, ensure that the router is compatible with the Playstation 3. Also, have you tried calling your internet service provider ? they are usually able to solve connection problems with regards to game consoles etc.

it sounds like a version conflict to me ie a NTSC copy of the game with a pal PS3 or visa versa. an excerpt from wikipedia "Two of the seventh generation of video game consoles have regional lockout, so games imported from other countries cannot be played on foreign versions of those consoles without some form of alteration to bypass the lockout. However, a number of games for the Xbox 360 have been confirmed as region free and will play on a unit from any region, although it is up to the publisher if a game is region free or not. Like the CD-i and the Panasonic 3DO, the PlayStation 3 is one of the few home consoles to be advertised as region-free. However, while region free for PS3 games, there is region locking for backwards compatible PS2 and PS1 games, as well as DVD and Blu-ray Disc movies. Additionally, some games separate online players per region, such as Metal Gear Solid 4 Online. A PSN store only contains content for its own country, for example the UK store will not supply usable map packs for an imported US copy of Call of Duty 4. The PS3 actually supports hardware region locking for PS3 games as well, based on Blu-ray regions, but as of current it is unused and all current region lockouts and separations are about online services." Link "http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Regional_lockout" Perhaps checking the video setting and game settings under "settings" in the home menu might help.

Game disconnection has something to do with the quality of your internet connection. You might have bad ping or latency thus causing disconnection. Player hosts that you are playing with also has something to do with connectivity because they might have bad connections too. You might want to have your ISP check your internet connection stability. Also, if you are using WiFi... try getting better connection signal.
This is what used to happen to me on my ps3 slim 160 GB when I put the disc in the screen goes black and int he top left corner I have a flashing disc, i updated the system to FW 4.00 and now the game works fine, i was previously running FW 3.73.
I really wish I had a concrete answer for you. It may just be a coincedence that it happens only when you play that game. I have had that problem before myself, but it would happen with different games at different times of the day. As you know most of the popular games like MGS4 and COD4 are made and supported by diffent companies. This also means that the servers are in different locations and have a varied amount of people on each server. MGS4 is a newer game and I also had problems with the online play with that game as many people have.
As for a soultion. Some games require a stronger signal strength then others due to the amount of MB being transfered. I would try to use a shorter Ethernet cable if using a wired connection, or moving closer to your WiFi router if using WiFi, and completely resetting the network configuration. I know thats a pian, but if it works, it will be worth it! I really hope this helps you!! Good luck.
