Question about Maytag PYE2300AY Electric Dryer
Dryer is 7 years old. The drum turns and it runs but does not heat at all. The Thermal fuse must be okay (it was replaced 1 year ago), or it would not run at all. I have had the Thermostat checked, and it is okay. Is there a third thermostat? I have thoroughly cleaned all the places where lint builds up- all ducts and the dryer front door components.
What is the problem likely to be? Can the heating element go bad without tripping the thermal fuse? In other words, will the dryer run with a bad heating element?
I had the same problem last month. My heater element broke in two places. This created an electrical open that prevented the heater from functioning. I replaced the heater element and my problem was solved.
In order to check your heater element: With the machine unplugged, disconnect one wire to the heater element and then use an ohm meter or multimeter across the heater element lugs to read resistance. Infinite ohms = open circuit.

Yes, it will. you should be able to take off the panel on the bottom of the front of the dryer. way in the back is the heating element. do not put your hands in there with the power on, but start the dryer and look in there and you will see if the heating element comes on. it will be like looking inside your toaster.
