When I place cleaning solution tank on the handle all the water leaks out ?

We have a Hoover SpinScrub and have had repeated problems with leaking of the cleaning solution (upper) tank. This tank cracks around the valves that control the release of the water. We have had three tanks that have done this, sometime only after a few uses. I think that the plastic is too brittle - a manufacturers defect for sure. We just keep buying new tanks at around $50 each - still cheaper than professional cleaning. Is there a lemon law for steam vacs?

I bought one about 2 years ago and after 6 mos it leaked and leaked bad. So since it had 1 yr warranty, I exchanged and got the sameone as we really enjoyed it and it did a fablous job. Now we are experiencing the same problem and its bad. As expense as they are $300. the darn thing is leaking and leaking bad. The warranty is out. What can we do.????? sick and tired of this problem

MOST COMMON PROBLEM IS THE ATTACHEMENT VALVE IS BROKEN WHERE YOU CONNECT FOR WATER ON SIDE OF MACHINE. THESE MODELS USE AN ELECRONIC SOLONOID TO ACTIVATE WATER TO NOZZLE IF IT IS COMING OUT THERE SOLONOID MAY BE BAD

SOURCE: Hoover Steam Vac clean water tank valve leaks

Honey! It's broke. You can manuever the little black valves out, but you will only find the hole in the clean water tank. I have the EXACT same problem. My advise to you is to take the valves, caps and handle off, sell them on EBAY and then buy you a whole new clean water tank.

Fill the tank and determine if the plastic is leaking, or if the valves are leaking. if the tank is cracked, it would need replaced. There is an improved design now available.

You may cycle the valves on the bottom with the eraser end of a pencil.

My Hoover steam vac dual v clean water and detergent tank leaks water before attached to the vac and during cleaning

This is a common problem with the earlier models which had a separate soap tank glued to the clean water tank. The plastic was too thin beneath the valve on the clean water side and would develop cracks. You most likely will need a new one piece tank. ( Part # 42272104)

Leaking Solution Tank/Seal Install - Hoover Steam Vac

Not sure this will help, but we have a Hoover Steamvac F5843 and our valve seal seemed to have shrunk so the tank was leaking. Bought a new seal and had the same problem. How to install? There weren't any instructions or pictures of the part(s) involved in the manual. Online there were a few pics but nothing helpful. After careful examination of the existing part and where it was supposed to be, I removed the original off the valve stem, placed the new one on it and carefully pressed the valve stem with the seal into place. It didn't look quite right and we were thinking "now what?". My wife and I got the idea at the same time...install the clean water tank (with the stem & seal in the bottom) back onto the steam cleaner. I took it back off to see what the stem & seal looked like afterwords and voila...the seal was perfectly inserted where it should be and the tank no longer leaks! The 'peg' that presses up on the valve stem pushed the seal perfectly in place.

Hoover Steam Vac clean water tank valve leaks

a) make sure that there is not a place for a stair attachment. If
there is make sure air is not leaking through where the attachment goes
on because of damaged or misplaced fitting.

b) some steam vacs leave water behind them and **** up in front of
them. If you just walked forwad with the steam vac nothing would be
sucked into the tank.

c) try taking your finger off the trigger and using the steam vac. If
the tank still empties the trigger is stuck open.

d) try putting clean water in the dirty water tank only and using it on
a dry rug. If water goes somewhere from the dirty water tank you have
a leak.

e) take apart what you can and look at the parts. A good visual
inspection can solve many of these types of problem if you are careful
not to miss anything.
