SOURCE: Pinnacle Video Transfer: at REC, all lights turn red--except USB

how about deleting all the software of that device and reinstalling it as a new device.

the program may have corrupted the flash drive and all the data that is on it and when you pluged into any other device it may of worked a few time but that it will start corrupting everything you have plugin your flash drive into.

you are going to reformat the flash drive and re install any type of drivers for the flash drive and check every where you have used the flash drive has not corrupt any of the systems you are using.

let hope we got it before you loose your intire system due to corrupted software downloads or uploads to flash drive and computer system and this may include a network if you are on one.

SOURCE: Dazzle lags recording

Please try the steps in the link first. try to open internet browser then copy and paste the link to the URL:

http://pinnacle.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/pinnacle.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=9814&p_created=1082135512

Try to update the driver of your video card since the major concern is display.

Please try to connect the dazzle at the back USB ports of the computer.

Try to disable your internet connections, antivirus and firewall connection to isolate the case.

SOURCE: The sound dosen't match the video when I use my dazzle.

You can try also this steps to isolate the case,

a. Antivirus, antispam, antispyware constantly scan your harddrives and can slow down the processor a lot during render or burning.Disabling these improves the system speed and efficiency radically.

b. Firewalls constantly turned on when internet is active can slow Studio because it uses MySQL server file in windows and is an important file for Studio 11. If both programs are running at the same time, they rob one another of valuable resources thus depriving each of successful operation.

c.When internet is active, Windows is constantly updating itself via automatic updates. And as we all know, downloading can slow system performance whereas automatic updates not only downloads but also installs components in the background. Thus seriously slowing system performance very much.

3. Update firmware for your DVD burner. Now this may sound ridiculous when you just bought it but it is common knowledge that when hardware is manufactured, they come with drivers that are almost relative to the manufacturing date, and these components are usually assembled into computer workstations months after or even longer.

4.Uninstall the following : Nero, Roxio or Sonic. Though Pinnacle has nothing against the companies or softwares mentioned, they do have conflicts when installed on the same computer. All the mentioned softwares have almost the exact programming language that Studio's burning engine has and if you have all of them installed, conflicts arise due to the fact that the computer gets confused as to which program is which, in turn the computer recognizes the command as coming from only one software and thus limits it's capabilities and processes.

SOURCE: Recording locks up on "Generating disc menu"

I too suspect it is related to windows updates which seem to take up a lot of memory. The only solution to Pinnacle hangups is to make sure you have a computer that accepts 4 MB and upgrade to Windows Vista.

Short of that, the solution is to break your videos into tiny scenes containing 30 pictures or less if you are using AVI, and then save your files NOT to DVD, but onto your hard drive as image files. Make sure you rename each section image file after you save it, or each section will write over the previous one.

Finally, using a program like Nero (the Express part), join them all together on one DVD and allow Nero itself to create your menus. Nero does a fantastic job of that and makes menu creation very simple.

I go to replay a video on my camera and all my videos are there to see but when I select one a white screen comes up and in the lower left corner it says "No applicable files available"

This message appears if data on the hard disk / internal memory / memory card of the camcorder is handled directly with the computer. When you handle data of the camcorder, use the supplied software, PMB.

If you directly handle files or folders of the camcorder from the computer, image files may be damaged or not be played back. Return the files or folders to the condition before handling, or format the recording media with the camcorder.

* If you format the recording media, all movies and still images including protected ones will be deleted.

* Sony will not accept responsibility for any results caused by handling data on the recording media from the computer.

This is the same to the images in the camera, if you have to do something with the images in your camera by PC, you won't playback it too.

Connecting the Camera to the PC

Preparation:
Set the camera’s power/mode switch to OFF.

NOTES
• When the USB cable is connected, turning on or off the camera causes malfunctions of the PC.

• Connect the camera directly to the PC, not through the hub.

• Do not use an extension USB cable.

• Saving the wrong kinds of files in a recording medium or deleting files or folders from a recording medium can cause problems with the operation of the camera. When it is necessary to delete a file from a recording medium, delete it through the camera. Also, do not move or rename folders and files in the medium on PC.

• Never disconnect the USB cable while the access/charge lamp on the camera lights or blinks.

1 Create a folder to back up files into.

2 Set the camera’s power/mode switch to STANDBY/ON.

3 On the camera, move the set lever to
\/ / /\ to select [PLAYBACK ON PC],
then press down.

4 Double-click [EVERIO_HDD] or [EVERIO_SD].

5 Select the folder that you want to back up, and drag & drop it into the folder you created in step 1.
SD_VIDEO:
Folder that contains video files. If you want to back up fi les individually, open this folder, and drag & drop folders such as [PRG001] one by one.
DCIM:
Folder that contains still image fi les. If you want to back up fi les individually, open this folder, and drag & drop files such as [PIC_0001.JPG] one by one.

When you have finished operation

Always follow the procedures below when disconnecting the camera, or turning off the camera/computer power.
Failing to do so may cause damage to the camera and computer.

1) Confirm that the access/charge lamp on the camera does not light or blink. (If the access/charge lamp lights or blinks, wait until it is turned off before proceeding.)

2) Double-click the [Safely Remove Hardware] or [Unplug or Eject Hardware] icon in the status bar.

3) Select [USB Mass Storage Device] or
[USB Disk], and then click [Stop].

4) Click [OK].

5) Disconnect the USB cable.

6) Turn off the camera and PC.

Lost storage capacity

I had the same exact problem... then someone told me the fix... you have to "empty trash" on your computer (when the camcorder is plugged into your USB) - this will "empty" the trash on your computer, but also empty on your flip too...

I guess what happens when you delete all files from the "100 Video" file is that your camcorder moves all files into its own "trash" (on the device) - so the camera "shows" that there are no videos, but in reality, they are still on the flash memory on the device..

hope this makes sense and works for you.

Lost files with camcorder everio gz-hd7

From my experience with Hard Drive based Camcorders.. you're best bet is to treat them like a computer.. use an application like Data Rescue II to recover the files from the camcorder.. once the files are recovered, reformat the HD on teh camcorder and you should be abel to start recording new footage again.

Broken video management file/ recording failure

Although the instructions don’t make it clear, it seems to be important that the camera is turned off before you connect or disconnect the USB cable. The instructions do mention that you should not delete or rename files on the camera except in the EXT_MOV folder. The camera’s firmware is apparently quite fragile about file names and the presence of the extra hidden folders that both the Windows and Macintosh operating systems create when you delete something.

Lost time/inaccessible files on flip

This may sound risky, but I did this and my Camera is working perfectly again... If you don't have any videos on it you need to salvage too badly this should do the trick.

1) Plug it in (obviously)
2) Go to My Computer and right click your video camera
3) Click Format
4) I clicked restore device defaults because it sounded safe (but may not be necessary)
5) Click start and begin the reformatting

After this i went from my incorrect 27:11 min. remaining on the camera to the full 60. Still records perfectly and the software is still on it and works correctly. Hope it helps some of you out there =)
