A coaxial cable is the name given to a digital cable that appears identical on its connectors to an RCA cable that is designed for analog signals; however their resistance measurements are different.
On the receiver you are asking about, the input and output terminals are labeled as coaxial and are colored orange. These are single cable connections. Power off the unit, and also turn off the device you want to connect the receiver to. If you are connecting a device such as a DVD, CD or Blu-ray player to the receiver, look closely at the cable sheath. You will see an arrow on it. That arrow must point at the RECEIVER coaxial INPUT if the other end of the cable is connected to one of the devices just mentioned. Make identical connections on each end pushing the pin all the way onto the terminal until it stops; coaxial connections are typically very tight. If it is too difficult to fit, putting a dab of contact grease or tuner cleaner onto the connector will help.

SOURCE: ipod to harman/kardon

Using a headphone to RCA adaptor plug the headphone jack into the headphone connector of the Ipod. Then plug the RCA jacks into any available Analogue input on the receiver. Increase the volume on the Ipod to 80% then adjust the receiver's volume according.

Or get a dock that will allow remote control and charging, such as Roth, DLO or Wadia.

SOURCE: can I conect harman Kardon avr 230 to apple tv

Yes, although it (AVR) does not support HDMI only component video.

Connect the audio to the receiver and the video directly to the TV if you have inadequate video inputs, or want to take advantage of the HDMI.

I have a Harman Kardon HK990 which throws an error #005 if I switch it on with a digital input connected. If digital input is not connected, it turns on without any error and all buttons work as expected -...

1.Is the fault caused by an optical or coaxial input or both?

2. Have you tried a Firmware Reset? (press "Level Settings" button & "Speaker 1" together.

3.Do you have a Service Manual (I have pdf!)

Does the Harmon kardan avr25 have an hdmi output

Nope. You get one component OUTPUT (monitor) and two component INPUTS (Vid 2/DVD) but no HDMI video output.

If you can input and switch HDMI video directly at your display from your cable/SAT etc. you should be fine, just run all the audio through the AVR-25 through the coaxial/optical digital inputs, L/R analog RCA or the 5.1 direct inputs.

I have a Harman kardothe hdmi n avr255.There is no audio output from one of the HDMI input.I need help on this one.

hi,
You have to check the audio assignment of the corresponding HDMI input. May be it is assingned as optical or coaxial. You have to change it to HDMI. If you have the User manual just read the audio assignment settings.

Sound has static using optical connection on some channels. if I use analog connection sound is better but cuts out about every 3 minutes

Optical digital cables are more finicky than coaxial ones. The seating has to be precise and there can be no small radius bends or kinks in them. Evaluate the routing.

I'd use coaxial if I had the choice.

Two major benefits:

1) cheap standard RCA cable that you can run pretty much as far as you want in the home environment;

2) they can multiply your available coaxial digital jacks because they can be 'shared' between two digital sources or end-units by employing an RCA splitter cable.

You just have to remember to turn OFF the device you're not using at any particular moment so you don't have a 3-way digital conversation garbling things up.

Have digital feed connected (white, red, yellow) to DVD connections 6 & 13. Get picture but no sound. Sound is OK on VID1 input from satelite. Any ideas?

so you have the yellow out from dvd player to yellow in on the receiver (composite video) and the red and white out from dvd player to red and white in on the receiver (right and left audio channel) . you can also plug in the orange rca (digital coaxial audio) go to your menu on the Haman Kardon receiver and make sure you select the right audio input. mine is a Harman Kardon AVR146 push th osd (on screen display) on the remote. go ti the input setup and select the appropriate audio input

Nano 8gb does not charge battery(3th generation)

the ipod of the 4th generation does only charge in USB mode and the Harman & kardon speaker only supports I link charge mode(fire wire 1394) so i bought an awsome sounding machine wich does not charge my ipod nano.
however i must say that i have a solution, when you put the USB cable in the back of the H&K, you can charge the nano with a charging device of an ipod.
