Question about Viking 48" 6 Burner, Grill Professional Series Dual Fuel Range - VDSC485-6Q Dual Fuel (Electric and Gas) Kitchen Range
All of a sudden my oven will not work. When you have it on bake the element does not heat up. Other functions will work like Con Bake but does not heat correctly. I had the repairman out and he said it was a bad element but because of the way manufactured he has to have someone help him pull the range out for about $378 to fix. I just tried to look at it my self and the self cleaning does work and the element does heat up so I am not sure he is right about needing a new element. He did check that power was going to the relays etc but didn't actually check anything else.
Gas to burners is erratic, flame goes up and down erratically. Oven won't go on unless heat is set over 450 degrees and then either might or might not stay on. Repairman said it worked fine!
It sounds like the Thermostat is defective.
Element can be removed from the front of the unit, it does not need to be pulled

It could be a bake element or an oven control problem. If you have a volt meter, remove the back of the oven and test the voltage across the bake element terminals while it is on. You should have 240 volts. If it is less than that, you have a control problem.
If you have no way to check the voltage, replace the element and try it. It is the cheaper part to replace if you want to try something.
Post back if you need to know how to change it or need further guidence.
