I'm working on a n-0931m noritz and i have a 61 code flash and water leak out the blower housing i assume the heat exchanger is bad. is a heat exchanger difficult to replace

61 code is a fan motor abnormality. It typically indicates the fan is damaged and needs to be replaced. It can be caused by water leaking onto it from the heat exchanger.

The heat exchanger isn't difficult to replace, but it is confusing if it's your first time doing it. I'd recommend calling Noritz for assitance.

I have a Nortitz natural gas water heater, model #N-063s-1. Acouple of days ago it stopped heating the water. what can I do myself to fix this matter. Thanks, lynnatheana@hotmail.com

There are many reasons a tankless heater will stop heating water. The first thing I would look for is a flashing red light on the burner indicator. The flash break down goes as follows

continuous blinking - typically means ignition failure or the unit is overheating; look for visible water inside the unit, have your gas pressure checked, or check the flame rod/igniter for buildup of debris

three blinks - typically indicates 16 error code; typically resolved by performing a descale

4 or 5 blinks - exotic error codes; for these you should definitely contact Noritz tech support

If there is no flashing light, first check your filter for debris. If the filter is clean, your flow sensor is probably stuck. Again I'd recommend contacting Noritz tech support to help you clean the flow sensor.

Unit flashes the number 20

A 20 error code means the high limit switch is being tripped. This is most typically caused when scale develops in the heat exchanger. I'd recommend performing a descale on the heater to resolve the problem. Make sure to follow the instructions that came with your isolator valve kit.

My Noritz tankless will sometimes flash 5 red quick lights which indicates to me that it's not firing and I've only succeeded in restarting it at the circuit box. What servicing needs to happen to prevent...

You are getting an error code. A 5 flash error code is typically caused by voltage supply abnormalities. If you are using a generator, battery backup, or solar electricity inverter, make sure it is supplying your heater with a smooth sine wave AC voltage.

This code can also be caused by connecting jumpers inside the unit with power connected or buildup of soot on the sensors

Sometimes the hot water just goes cold

Here are a couple things to look for:

1) flashing burner light - a flashing burner light indicates the unit is getting an error code
common error codes:
A. continuous flashing - ignition failure or abnormal combustion; look for visible water in the machine indicating a leak, check gas pressure, debris or buildup on flame rod/igniter plug, or clean unit with compressed air
B. 3 flashes - error 16, abnormal outlet water temperature; typically this code indicates you'll need to descale you unit
C. 4 or 5 flashes - exotic error codes; you should contact Noritz technical support to deal with these codes

2. If there is no flashing code, try increasing the hot water flow. In the summer time you typically use less hot water; this can result in intermittent operation of your tankless heater. Increase water flow by either: A. cleaning your showerhead and removing scale deposits B. widening your flow restrictor C. Remove your flow restrictor in the showerhead

3.If none of these resolves your problem, you probably have debris in your flow sensor. Contact Noritz technical support for a walkthrough on removing debris from a flow sensor.

I have a noritz water tankless heater and hot water stopped. Red light blinking three times. Need help.

Three flashes typically indicates the unit is overheating due to scale. I'd try a descale initially and see if that remedies the problem.
