SOURCE: no heat-gas dryer--Amana

There is a flame sensor on the side of the flame housing. Jump the 2 wires out and see if the ignitor glows then. If so you need a flame sensor.

Hi!

Please check the thermal fuse, this fuse blows and can only be replaced not repaired. Check for the continuity in the fuse using a multimeter.

SOURCE: maytag gas dryer, no heat, ignitor wont glow

The machine will check all safety features first. check the overlimit by the burner. It may have a reset. If not, turn power off and check continuity (ohms). Good luck.

MY carrier model #58DHC with hot surface ignitor has quit working. Blower works, but no heat. If you turn the thermostat to on fan will run but no heat. Did preliminary testings with self test on printed...

If you suspect its the ignitor? The hot surface ignitor is powered by 120v. Inspect ignitors' hot surface for cracks or burnt spots. Uplug ignitor from board. Cycle heat on and verify 120v to the ignitor at the cannon plug on the board where the ignitor plugs in. If you have the voltage then replace the ignitor. If not, you'll need to verify all other circuits are working before condemning the board. Work safe and at your own risk! Hope this helps!

My Maytag Gemini cooktop and top oven work. The bottom oven will not heat up past 100 degrees. What is the problem?

Replacing the ignitor is not difficult or dangerous. To get at it, you will first take out the racks. Then undo the box-like cover inside the bottom of the oven; the screws face front. Underneath that is a wing-shaped cover, held in place with wingnuts. Remove it.

The pipe that the gas comes out of heads straight back; the ignitor is just to the left. You'll be able to see the wires going out the back of the oven. Remove the plates that hold the tube/ignitor combination.

Once the pipe is free, then get your head out of the oven and pull out the oven so you can see, and get at, the back. On the lower left is a cover, about 12 x 15 or so, held in place by four screws. Remove it.

At this point you can see where the ignitor connects to the orange wires (at least mine are orange) with a plastic connection. Undo that connection.

Viola! You have removed the ignitor! Now, before you forget, make a diagram of everything you did. Put the screws in separate plastic baggies, with paper number tabs that correspond to your drawing. This will greatly help in putting everything back together.

Every time I have done this repair, the problem was the ignitor, even if it is glowing. Replace your oven ignitor, ask the parts company if there is a cheaper generic ignitor for your model. You could have a bad valve or a sensor, but since they came out with these ignitor models 12-15 yrs ago, it has always been a bad ignitor,. Good Luck, Appliance Specialists

Our stove was not heating up, but the electric pilot was glowing red, we replaced the gas valve, and it still will not heat up....what do you suggest?

Hi, The problem may not be so obvious. It sounds very crazy but the problem can still be with the ignitor even though it is glowing and heating up. The gas valve will not turn on unless the ignitor pulls a aet number of amps. of power. When theignotor ages it can stop drawing the same amount of power and the gas valve won't turn on because it thinks that the ignitor is not owrking correctly. I went through this with a couple of different ovens, the first one really took me awhile to figure out. Change the ignitor and your oven will work again!
