SOURCE: GE Monogram freezer side working but refrigerator side is not.

Did you clean the condenser?  Is the unit FULLY defrosted?   Defrost fully!!!!!!
Did he check the amount of gas in the unit?  If your unit has low gas...it is in need of more.  R12 is expensive.
Check gas level:  Shut unit for at least one hour.  View compressor.  Several pipes...we're looking at the largest.  Start the unit.  This pipe will begin to frost.  If it does not clear to dry, ice or wet...stays frosted...it is low.  Get the repair guy back ... but ask how much he'll charge first.

SOURCE: freezer works refrigerator doesn't ge tbx-25zle

Hi: Your defrost heater or defrost timer is bad. There is an off chance your freezer or fresh food compartment are so full they block the airflow. If not full, Remove the food from the freezer, unplug the ref. and hit the back wall of the freezer with a hair dryer. Avoid plastic components as they will melt. When your defrost mechanism fails frost will form where it shouldnt and block the airway to the fresh food compartment. That's why the freezer still works. That will get you a week or two of fresh food getting cold. If your'e handy remove the back panel of the freezer at the bottom will be a glass tube with a metal coil in it. If the coil is broken buy the new defrost heater and install it. If not look for a defrost timer. Use the model number of the refrigerator to find the part. www.searspartsdirect.com will have a parts schematic to help you find out where the timer is located. There shipping is high so try to buy it locally. I hopes this helps, Jeff

SOURCE: GE refrigerator freezer water dispenser failure GSH25JFTA

Some have said that if you are fridge is still making ice, then your water line may be frozen. So you need to let it thaw out by leaving the freezer door open. Figure out somewhat to try and keep the cold air in by using plastic sheeting or something, until the line thaws. You can't dispense water with the door open, so reach up press the button that makes it think its closed and try to dispense the water..or just shut the door to test it out. I am going to try this when I get home today, because I am having the same problem on my GE model# GSH25JFTA BB.

SOURCE: GE bottom freezer began making a clicking noise, will not run

The clicking could be the start relay. If the start relay is bad, the compressor will not start and you will hear a clicking noise in 2-5 minute intervals. The clicking noise is the overload cutting the compressor off when it overheats from trying to start with a bad start relay. To find out if this is bad first unplug the refrigerator. Remove the lower cover from your refrigerator. Then take the cover off that is on the side of the compressor, you will see wires going to this. Now you should be able to see the start relay plugged on to the side of the compressor and unplug it. Now the best way to tell if it’s bad is to shake it. If it rattles, it’s bad and needs to be replaced. If not, most of the time it’s ok. But rather than saying the compressors bad, you might want to replace it anyways because it don’t cost much in most cases (less than $25). If you replace it and it doesn’t work then the compressor is bad and you’ll need you call a repairman. (Note that compressors are very costly and are normally not worth fixing). You can also enter your model # at www.appliancehelponline.com for diagrams and illustrations.

I had ge refrigerator and the fridge is not cooling well

For starters a year and model number would be helpful. Do you have turn dials to contol temp of freezer and fridge or electonic pushbuttons? The fridges with manual rotating dials use a "dampner" between the freezer and fridge section. In short the freezer evap fan blows air in the freezer but also has a passage from the freezer to the fridge section which aloows a controled amount of air from the feezer section to cool the fridge section. IThis passage may be obstructed by ice build up or some other blockage. Units prior to 2002 are not controled by circuit boards and the ones after 2002 are. For more specific help give me the GE fridge model please.

What does the little dial do on the WR30X10093 Icemaker. It rotates and shows a + sign for CCW rotation and - sign for CW rotation

Hi,
The dial you are referring too adjusts water level into ice maker (1/4 of an ounce in either direction), I would leave it alone. I would not adjust it for it can cause jamming or over filling.
I hope this helps

Refrigerator less than two months old. Freezer side fine refrigerator side stopped working altogether. All food ruined. Who should I contact. purchased from Home Depot.

This is a very common issue, If the freezer compartment is cold and making ice the
problem is simply airflow from the freezer into the refrigerated section.
Typically when one senses the refrigerator is warm they max out the settings
on both dials the thermostat with its 1-10 settings as well as off for the compressor.
This controls the compressor and temperature.
The additional setting or dial is for colder freezer or refrigerator as well , However
it simply opens or closes a flapper door between the freezer and refrigerator boxes.
When that dial or setting is maxed , it closes and makes the freezer colder, yet leaves the refrigerated section starved for sufficient airflow to maintain a cold box in the refrigerated section.
Just set the dial that does not turn the compressor off to the middle setting.
One can leave the thermostat that does control the compressor in the max setting , just not the colder freezer setting, If you notice colder isnt colder refrigerator, Its actually colder freezer, A common issue found on 25% of all refrigerator calls a simple setting adjustment.
Its easy to think that maxing out the settings makes for a colder refrigerator, it doesnt, it makes a colder freezer and warm rerigeration section.
If a freezer is making ice, theres nothing wrong with the unit other than airflow setting.

My GE TFX30PP is constantly running and doesn't turn off. The freezer is very cold but the frig side isn't cold enough. A repair guy put in a new "cold contol" sensor but it didn't help.

I have a Samsung refrigerator/freezer How do I adjust the freezer temperature?

Hello,

1Place the appliance thermometer in a glass of water.

2Set the glass of water with the thermometer in the refrigerator on the middle shelf.

3Check the temperature on the appliance thermometer after 24 hours.
The temperature should register between 37 and 40 degrees Fahrenheit (2 and 4 degrees Celsius) in order to store food safely.

4Look for the temperature control dial inside the refrigerator if you have to adjust the temperature, and make it warmer or cooler.
If you can’t easily see the control dial, check the owner’s manual for a diagram that shows the location
When looking at the refrigerator temperature dial, you may see numbers rather than degrees. The majority of refrigerators use a set of numbers, with the lower numbers representing cooler temperatures and the higher numbers representing warmer temperatures.

5Move the temperature dial in the necessary direction to adjust the temperature up or down. Be sure to move the dial only one number in either direction because it probably will not take much to change the temperature in the refrigerator.

6Adjust the temperature balance control if your refrigerator has such a dial or sliding switch. This allows you to direct more or less cold air to the refrigerator section from the freezer section.

7Wait at least 24 hours, and then check the refrigerator temperature again.

8Observe the amount of frost in the freezer section of the refrigerator if you are unable to properly set the temperature.

90Defrost the freezer if the amount of frost is more than .25 inches (.64 cm) thick.

10Repeat the steps as necessary until the temperature is within the safe range.

11Use a permanent marker to draw a line on the dial after you locate the best setting on the refrigerator temperature dial. This will give you a reference point in case your dial moves and needs to be adjusted in the future.

Hope this helpout...

What is the best temperature for the bottom freezer and refrig?

Set both dials in the middle.

If you have a nearly full freezer, add 1 dial unit.
If you have a nearly full refrigerator, add 1 dial unit.

If your freezer is less than half full, step down 1 dial unit
Refrigerator should not be less than mid-point on dial (it gets open more often).

This is a good starting point, adjust in a month or so.

Whirlpool Model ED5SHAXML12 is freezing food in refrigerator even when dial is at off. Happened from one day to the next.

At the refrig controls , the freezer control , controls how much air goes into the refrigerator section . Open the refrig door , and up at the top left , put your hand over the damper (air vent) . Turn the freezer control from high to low , and feel the difference in the air flow . If you turn your freezer control to a lower setting , less cold air will enter the refrig . Think of it as : the freezer control adjusts the temperature , and the refrig control , tells how long to run the compressor . In actuality , this is how it works . However , with the dial (refrigerator thermostat) in the off position and refrig still running , this indicates a bad thermostat . Pt # 2198202 .
