Question about Compaq Presario 5000 PC Desktop
Makes a "VVRROOooommm...VROOoommm.."undulating sound.
Not during boot up, but intermittently, getting more frequent. I took the cover off and it is definitely the processor cooling fan. Question: Is this a faulty fan, or could the power supply be fluctuation?. It's a Compaq Presario SR2527CL desktop, about 4 years old, 200 gig drive with a dvd burner.
Probably the desktop fan, a quick way to test for sure is to stop the fan with you finger when it is making the noise.
Just place your finger lightly in the middle of the fan and check if the noise stops.
Dont leave your finger there for more than a couple of seconds and mind the blades as it does smart a bit if you catch them.
