Question about Acer Aspire 5100 Notebook
I have just bought an Aser aspire one net book and it's running on Linux.. I need to install windows xp. Can you help?
Here is a solution I used and works just fine:
You will need:
- 2GB USB memory stick, formatted Fat32 (worked for me)
- WINDOWS XP SP2 CD or image,
- WinSetupFromUSB-0.1.1.exe , download it somewhere
Extract the XP image or cd on a folder.
Plug the USB memory stick in an available slot.
Run the WinSetupFromUSB-0.1.1.exe, it will find the memory stick.
Select the Windows source from the folder you just extracted it to.
Hit GO, and the bootable XP USB stick will be ready in cca 20 min.
Set up your Aspire one to boot from USB, plug the bootable USB into the Aspire One slot and start the computer.
Follow the instructions on the screen and that's it. Of course you will have to install all the drivers from Acer website.

Print out this wikihow document and follow the steps
After you're done. Download the latest drivers for your hardware from Aser's website and install them. Or use the drivers CDs that came bundled with the notebook.
