Re: Need to reinstall operating system without restore cd
You can run a new installation of windows on your pc, but before you do this I recommend that you take a note of your soundcard, graphics driver and network card name and number, in case you need to update the drivers. you can find these in control panel>system>device manager.
Simply load your os disk into your drive and when asked what you want to do click on Install windows. Formatting the harddrive is part of the installation in windows xp. Make sure that your bios settings is set to boot from cd. You can do this by restarting your pc, press F1 or delete which ever your computer asks to enter bios and change your boot options to cd. If you are using xp when the computer start press enter when asked if you want to boot using cd rom support. It will start loading all of the necessary files for the installation. Once it has loaded windows and restarts, it will will ask again if you want to boot from cd, do not press anything this time, it will boot itself from the harddrive. If you do press enter again it will start the whole process off again. Once it has started windows normally you may take out the disk. Make sure that your disk is not an upgrade disk though, it has to be the full version for a successful installation. If you have a vista disk simpy load it and select install and take it from there. Good luck I hope this helps.

font-family:"Times New Roman";}
To install new version of XP. Insert XP CD into drive,
reboot pc pressing F1 button.. This takes you into BIOS, change your primary
boot device to CDrom, save changes and reboot. Select boot from CD once this
appears and wait for files to be installed. Select the part of the hard drive
you wish to use for your operating system (usually the largest) and select
partition this drive. Delete any previous os, and reformat hard drive. (Be
aware this removes everything saved on your hard drive, so always back up first)
Re boot afterwards and reinstall operating system. Hope this helps
That is the work of a Virus, and spyware thking over your computer and you now have to reinstall the OS (operating system) i is on the cd that cam with your computer. it should say operating system or restore disk and you may have more than one they should have their order numbers on them

If you can't get rid of it after installing Maleware bytes e-mail me at firstname.lastname@example.org so I can give you the step-by-step procedure I also need to know what operating system you are running..
To format your hard-drive then re-install Windows? Yes, you would need one.
If you're attempting to rid yourself of a virus, you can definitely attempt a system restore. However, most modern viruses are smart, and the first thing they will do is integrate themselves into the system restore files. If however you have a system-restore disk (CD-ROM) which came with the computer, those will obviously not be infected (nor will they be infected) and can be used to restore the system to the state it was in when you first turned it on.
You can restore your os, however, I have to ask, not to be rude mind you, what is your level of expertise in DOS. The reason I ask is that fdisk is a DOS operation and you kinda need to know a little about DOS, not a lot, just a little. If you really do have several viruses, reinstalling your os or rolling your computer back through system restore will not get rid of the viruses, they like to embed themselves in things like HIMEM or worse, your BIOS. Hit me back on how technical I need to be to get you through this problem. If your infected really bad you may have to consider professional help in the form of a repairman. We have those resources here at FixYa.com through our repairman registry, then again, I just may be cheaper to get another computer. I know this isn't the news you wanted to hear, but it is my honest opinion.
Contact acer or check their website they should have a disk you can either download or order, they might charge to order it though to do a full wipe of the system and reinstall. otherwise you can di a full format and install from scratch with the OS of your choice. but that would leave you to search for the required drivers.
There is no virus in existence other then bios viruses that can survive a reformat restore.
find your restore disks or call the original manufacturer to obtain the original software.
if you do not have a name brand machine. you will need to reformat yourself and re install the OS manually.
