Question about Heating & Cooling

York Diamond 90 furnace blows cold air

Furnace lights and works, then cycles the gas off, fan continues to blow, red led flash 4 times through 14 cycles then the furnace lights again, this will occur 1 or multiple times before it finally tries to light the ignitor starts and requests gas and nothing happens. Once the furnace doesn't light the led goes solid red and the fan continues to blow until furnace is reset. Control module says replace controller when light is solid. I just don't know if the 4 led's flashing between cycles is normal White-Rodges 50A50-241 controller

There maybe a few issues. They have multiple safeties on furnaces. With this in mind this process to find the problem would take a Technician to check these safeties. It could be a flame sensor or thermocoupler each senses a flame or heat to keep the gas going. Also the damper for the flue must open for the gas to stay on. There may be more safeties on this and each safety sends a 24 volt current back to control module in order for the gas valve to stay open. If these aren't being met it will try around three times and go into a lock out mode which will keep gas shut off entirely.

SOURCE: York Diamond 80 furnace (propane conversion),

Check for 24 volts across the two terminals on the gas valve when the ignitor glows. If yes, bad gas valve or blockage in the gas train. If no, bad ignitor or circuit board. Even if the ignitor glows, it still may be bad and not sending the proper signal to the board. If you jump the R and G terminals on the circuit board, does the fan still only run for 90 seconds? If so I would say replace the board.

Home furnace comfortmaker blowing cold air

Home owner's manual? Troubleshooting section. Gas or electric?
If gas, pilot light may be out, or other gas controls. Are you sure you have gas supply? Do you have other Gas appliances so you can check? Furnace needs power for controls, fan and thermostat. Are you sure you have electric power to the furnace? Does the thermostat have a fan switch? If so turn it on and see if the fan turns on. If it does not turn on you may have a circut breaker poped. or some other reason power to the furnace is not working.

The flame sensor can still be faulty, replacing that is the cheapest. Other issues could be a faulty control board (if available), a faulty gas valve, thermostat lossing call, or a safety/pressure switch problem. There are alot of variables and it really helps to have a meter to check voltage and continuity through-out the system.

Luxaire by York Furnace,Model# G8T10012UHB11A,8 Red LED Flashes = Ignition lockout due to recycles,Has flame for a few seconds then goes off; does it around three times,Fan is working; blowing cold air

It sounds like you have a dirty or bad Flame Sensor. They sometimes get a white coating on them. It's not detecting a flame so it shuts off. Sometimes you can clean them and they will work.

Try to find all of the reset switches and push the little red button on the top to reset them...
If that don't work you will need to take an electric meter and test each switch to see which one is bad...

Furnace blows cold air, ignitor won't glow.

ok this is going to sound funny but it seems as though the polarity is reversed going into your furnance. to correct this proiblem you first need to unplug the unit and where the cord goes into the furnance at that connection disconnect the two wires. Once theses are disconnected switch the wires .All you are doing is reversing the way the electricity flows into the circut board. I would wager that is the problem

Problems with Furnace

On is just the blower fan nothing else, check to see if there is a reset button in the tstat or tripped over load inside the furnace, inside the furance is some safetys, you will see wires runing from each other and finaly to the gas valve, push each untill one of them clicks, then your furnace should start back working, but I would still have someone come out and check why it tripped, because as I said it is a safety, and when it tripps it is for a reason.
