SOURCE: 2004 v twin 16 hp 500hours on it runs but spits

You should take one of the heads off and look at the valves. You may have deposits building up no the valves.

120 pounds compression sounds pretty good for a six year old engine with 500 hours on it. It probably started life at 9 to 1 and now is around 8 to 1.

Honda UMK435T wont start but there is spark and thr carb seems to get fuel.

change the spark plug and pull the cord a few times before putting it in. to get the gas out of the head. if it is getting fuel and fire. you might check the compression to see if something is wrong internally.

I have changed fuel pump, filter, seems to be getting gas, turns over but wont start

With the ignition key off, remove one of the spark plug wires and insert a phillips head screwdriver into the wire cap. Place the metal part of the screwdriver near, but not touching, a metal part of the engine that is grounded (DO NOT touch the metal on the screwdriver with your hand!), then have someone crank the engine while you look for a spark between ground and the screwdriver. If no spark then suspect an ignition problem.

My jeep liberty wonts to start but it wont whats wrong with it

an internal combustion engine needs three conditions present to run. These conditions are compression, ignition, and fuel. A diagnosis of the no start condition involves hunting for these conditions to verify their presence.

Your jeep may be out of gas. The fuel system may be full of stale or watery gas. The fuel pump may have died or the filter or injectors may be clogged. These malfunctions will stop the fuel from reaching the cylinders.

Your jeep may not be getting spark. You may have fouled spark plugs or bad plug wires. Then again, you may have a bad sensor causing no spark.

You may have engine damage. A bad head gasket, fried piston rings, or burnt and bent valves may be killing your compression.

I have 1991 GMC syclone turbo charged. It has a full tank of gas and is getting spark but wont start

step one- need silence- insert key - turn to on- not start- listen for fuel pump whine- if here nothing- check 1- fuel pump fuse
2- fuel pump wiring (double check your ground!). if pump still does not make whine(pressurizing) your pump is gone. an intermitant pump can be a ground issue or a bad pump most times....

Fuel pump shut off switch

A couple of things to start with. The first is that you have changed your plugs and the fuel filter which are to totally different "departments" you could say in the engine. The plugs are for "spark" and the other is for fuel. It takes two things to start a vehicle gas and spark. It seems by what you are saying or what you have written that you haven't exactly diagnosed the problem first and have started replacing things. I'm not saying anything bad about you or anything but you need to narrow down the problem and then correct it. Find out what you don't have in order for the vehicle to start (fuel or spark) Below is a picture of the port to check for fuel pressure. It's kind of like a valve on a tire. You can either get a fuel pressure tester to connect to it to see if you are or are not geting fuel. If you don't have access to a tester you can carefully "push" in the valve (like you reliesing air out of your tire). See if you are getting fuel up to the fuel rail. If you are not it could be the cut off switch, a fuel pump relay or a few other things. By the way below is another picture of the cut off switch. Where the blue arrow is pointing down is a button you simply push down. If it is "popped" as you push down the button you should hear or feel a click which meant it was popped and needed to be reset. There could be a electrical short causing it to pop so there may be other issues if this is the problem (fuel). If you don't have fuel at the fuel rail, while you are listening by the gas tank, have someone turn the key to just the "on" position (without trying to start it) and when they turn the key you should be able to hear the fuel pump inside the gas tank turn on for about 3 seconds and then shut off. If you don't hear anything it could be a fuel pump or relay as well as a couple of other things. If fuel doesn't seem to be the problem and you seem to be getting fuel, check to make sure you are getting spark to the spark plugs. If you are not then the next step is to find out why there is no spark which could be as simple as a fuse or a number of other things. I guess the point I am trying to get at is to find out what is missing as to why the vehicle is not starting (fuel or spark) then comes diagnosing the reason for the loss either spark or fuel. Once you figure out the loss you can either reply/comment here or email directly at with what you have found out and then we can diagnose what's causing the loss before you start just replacing parts for no reason. I hope I was able to help in some way. By the way just in case the fuel cut off switch for the escort coupe is in the trunk on the right side behind a cover and if it's a sedan or wagon it behind the kick panel on the drivers side.

Our snapper shuts off after 15 or 20 minutes, does start back up after it cools - what do you think?

Could be the coil. Once it gets hot it shorts out and shuts the engine down then cools off and works again. OR it could be that the fuel cap doesn't vent and allow air into the gas tank causing a vacuum lock so fuel won't flow out of the tank. Just need to clean the fuel cap vent holes. Test for spark right away when it shuts down and still hot to find out if it is the coil. If the spark is gone when hot and normal when cold then it is the coil.

07Saturn Ion having trouble starting & lingering gas smell.

the gas smell is from all the gas into the clylinders when it dont start,,,normal,,,,,,the no start issue is from the electrical ignition switch goes bad when it gets cold out and doesnt let the car start,,you need a new ignition switch like $40 and reprogram it to the car,i would take it to the dealer, asap because right now you are lucky that it does eventually start, one day it will not start at all so get this fixed before you get stuck
