Question about Gateway GT5064 PC Desktop

I have unreadable lines across my screen

My screen is breaking up. I am getting lines across my screen that are out of place. lines written in the wrong place all the way across the screen.

    Ok tried that 1st thing, another monitor, still lines, changed cable too, still lines,
    played with drivers, reloaded drivers, read something about these Gateway GT5064's getting hot, open side and stuck a Honeywell TurboFORCE Table fan as close as i could get it to that Big old heat sink without being inside the computer, turned it on high, powered up puter! NO LINES 6 hours now. Well what do you know about that? :) I maybe on to something here.

Hi You need to try using different monitor/lcd to find out if the cpu or the monitor is the problem
- If the screen on the monitor will work fine after using a different monitor or lcd it only means that the cpu is working properly and also it means that the problem is the the monitor/lcd and you need to bring it to the repair center or you need to replace it.
-If the screen on the monitor will encounter the same problem it means that the integrated video inside your cpu is busted. if your computer is still under warranty you better call the manufacturer.
-Also you can try the safe mode. after switching on the computer press repeatedly the F8 button on your keyboard and it will direct you to the diagnostic menu of windows and all you have to do is to choose SAFE MODE and hit the enter button then you need to wait until the windows load if the appearance will work fine it means that you need to reinstall the software driver of video graphics adapter.

Upper third of Sony Reader 600 is corrupted. Black vertical lines and some missing horizontal lines which cut across words making them unreadable.

Those lines of pixels aren't commanded properly. Dismantle the unit completely and reseat the cable that goes top the screen - if that doesn't fixes it then the screen itself is damaged, it will have to be replaced.
If your reader is less than one year old take it back to the dealer - it's still under warranty and they will fix it for free.

Our three year ol Samsung TV has dark horizontal lines across the top of bottom of the screen. It is getting worse

When you see lines like these across your LCD, it indicates a problem with your monitor's electrolytic capacitors.A faulty filter capacitor in the power supply board (SMPS board) can cause horizontal lines across your monitor screen.Horizontal screen lines are one of the most visible problems I see in LCD monitors & TV's that are 3-7 years old. It can happen as much from heat, humidity & less-than-ideal operating conditions, as it can from fluctuating current supply or manufacturing defects.

The way to repair horizontal screen lines is by removing the capacitors from the printed circuit board (PCB) and testing them with a LCR meter.

If it shows zero, there's your confirmation that the specific capacitor needs to be replaced.

now if you can replace them your welcome but i wont suggest that , cause you may break it more....!

HP laptop screen problems


This might be an issue with OS itself or display drivers.Once try to reinstall the display drivers.

Red lines across bottom portion of screen

usually strong magnets like those in speakers cause lines on tvs if placed to close to the tv.
so demagnitizing the screen should work .
you may have to take it into a pepair shop to do this.
but if thats not the problem. you moe than likely are seeing a common problem of tv screen burn out. and these new tvs tend to burn out faster than the old ones did.

Could possible be your television.

Or maybe your Xbox is overheating.

Try placing your Xbox in a cool spot, direct a fan at it, etc.

Or try getting a new TV or Xbox.

Is lcd screen faulty

It's probably a faulty contact strip for the LCD display. There is a ribbon cable with VERY fine tracks on it that clamps into a connector on the main board. If this has shifted, you will get the problems you describe. It can be unclamped, but often breaks the lugs.
If you wish it to be repaired it is possible, but may be a 50-50 for a positive outcome.

If it is still under contract or warranty, then go through the providers, otherwise you haven't anything to loose by having a go.
Buy a decent set of jewlers screwdirivers, and prise up the edge of the clamp. It's like a hinge with catches at the end. Remove and replace the ribbon sheet(cable) and click back into place.

This may solve the problem, or cause more of a problem. as I said - 50 - 50% success rate.

I have garmin e-trex Legend and it was just working fine then the next time i turned it on the screen is unclear with lines thru all the writing. Please help.

Green horizontal lines across screen

try adjusting the green screen control. remove the front bottom panel of the tv by removing any screws holding it in place. gently pull of the front panel, there are gromets holding it in place, you will be able to gently remove the front, just make sure you get all those screws. now reove the small wodden or plastioc panel. now you will see the screen/focus assy. check to see of the screen controls are the top 3 or bottom 3. adjusted the center screen it's the green one, the other 2 are the red & blue. it is best to adjust in a dark room where the lines will show up easier. good luck
