Question about Smeg Ovens

Open Question

Smeg SA9066 oven has started humming when not in use

We have a smeg SA9065/66 oven, around 18 months old, which works perfectly but has started emitting a low humming noise constantly when not in use. It sounds like a fan on very, very low, a bit louder than the background hum of a fridge. Not sure what to do or whether to call out an electrician or a plumber (it's a dual fuel oven). Any assistance would be very greatly appreciated...

SOURCE: SMEG SA 398X

OK I have just moved into an apartment with this model (SA 398 X/1) and was searching for a user guide (no luck yet).

Anyhow my apartment was owned by a bachelor and it looks as though he hardly used the oven so everything's still intact.

I'm in Australia and these numbers are in Celsius so I hope they work for you.

From top Right (starting at the 2 o'clock position) the four numbers going clockwise downwards are:

50
90
120
160

Then from the left side (starting at 7 o'clock position) going clockwise upwards:

200
230
250 - with dots arching above the 250

Hope this helps -

Jane

If the fan is running, then it is safe to say that the oven element has gone.
Replace with a new one,(element that is).,
Plz rate this solution.
Thanks.

SOURCE: no heat when i switch oven on

There is no doubt that it is the element that has failed, so all you need to do is replace the fan oven element.
If you can see a removable panel at the rear of the oven ,remove that, and you should see the element.
Remove and replace.
If ther is no removable panel then you will have to access it from the rear of the oven cabinet.
Plz rate my solution.
thanks,

Has anyone got a successful recipe for a sponge made in a new Smeg oven. Had no trouble with my old Smeg but new one doesn't seem to produce the same standard of product with the same recipe

Dunno, if I had a sponge in MY smeg oven i'd try to cook it at 400 degrees for at least 5 hours then bury it in the backyard!
Then I'd be sure it was dead.

Smeg cucina SE375 single electric oven not heating-grill and lights etc working ok and fan making noise-oven approx 18 months old

This tutorial will show you how to check your Smeg element and how to replace your Smeg cooker element.
Here are the 3 main faults to look for in your oven or cooker that is not heating
  1. Your oven will not work until the clock/timer has been re-set after replacing an oven element or tripping the electrical supply. Consult your Smeg manual.
  2. If your Oven is not getting hot or heating up it could be a faulty element, if the fan in the oven is running and the thermostat light is on, this will lead us to believe that the element has gone faulty. With grills the thermostat light should come on there should be heat, if not then this could be the grill element or the thermostat.
  3. When you turn the oven on, the household electrical supply trips on the Rcd (this is the earth trip in the fuse board sometimes called the breaker tripping) your fan oven element has gone to earth and needs replacing.

I have a new (about 7 months old) SMEG SAP112-8 60cm Linear Pyrolytic Oven. The knob to turn the oven on does not seem to work. You usually push it in (and meet some resistance) to turn the oven on, then...

We have experienced the same problem. We have a service tech coming to fix it. The knob has come off. It seems that the internal spring has dislodged itself. This will be claimed under warranty. Ours is 5 months old. Our other Linear combo oven and coffee machine seem to be more solid/sturdy.

Smoke come up from bottom of 3-month new smeg oven SA702X when try to heat up

Hi.

Smoke coming from the oven is not normal. Ensure that the smoke is not vapour coming from the food inside the oven.

If there is vapour coming from the hinge area, then ensure that door and hinges are installed properly.

If you get smoke from the oven, try cleaning the oven cavity, follow the instructions on manual to clean the oven.

If after cleaning the oven, there is still smoke coming from the bottom side, then call Smeg and have the oven replaced. There is one or two years warranty on the appliance.
Smeg support and service phone number is listed in the oven manual.

Regards.

SMEG Oven won't heat up

This is late response but this fault is your fan element. You have two of them, if heating slower than usual, it is only one that has failed. When replacing one, it is recommended the other one be replaced. Tripping the circuit breaker is the symptom. These elements 2100 Watt each are anywhere between $70 to $110.

Oven smoking

I am pretty sure this is just the steam escaping. Smeg ovens seal so evenly that the steam stays in the oven.
