the problem sounds like what is called panel seperation its caused when the film on the insid begins to come apart from the lcd's the only fix for that is to replace the panel and that will generally cost more than the tv the

DVI cables are usually HDMI compatible. The downside is that DVI usually doesn't carry any audio. Your computer may need a specific audio card to transmit audio/video data from your DVI output to the HDMI input on the TV. You can find one at your local computer store and ask if it is compatible with your computer

do a reflow to the image board and concentrate on the chip with the green heat sink on it, that chip is faulty, i did this and has been working great
