Question about Microsoft Windows XP Professional With Servise Pack 2 (e8503040) for PC

1 Answer

Hinhem A friend on Yahoo Messenger sent me this file called "hinhem.csr", which just looked like a folder. When I clicked on it a message popped up with the header "Windows - No Disk" and then said "Exception Processing Message" and a bunch of letters and numbers. It gave the options "cancel" "try again" or "continue" and no matter what button I pressed, the message would just keep popping up again. My anti virus/anti spyware software (Vipre) can't get rid of it. What is it and how do I get rid of it? I read on a website that since it disables the task manager (which I discovered to be true) you need to download this software that disables it from disabling it, then the website etched out a series of steps to take from there, but after I downloaded the software task manager still won't open. I'm not very computer savvy (obviously I'm kind of dumb when it comes to them) so can anyone tell me something I can do to get rid of this? Thank you so much :-)

I tried restarting it in safe mode originally because one of the tips on someone else who had the problem told me to do something similar, but it won't restart in safe mode... it keeps trying to go to safe mode, then jumping back to the screen where it gives me the options of what mode to start it in. I tried all the variations of safe mode, but all it lets me boot up windows in is the regular mode :-S

Please Restart your computer and get to 'safemode'.you can do this by pressing F8 before your window starts up then selecting safe mode from the options available. When u get into the safe mode, there will be a pop up menu asking u something, click 'no' button and then click 'restore my computer to a previous state'.you will be shown a calender, you should click the date before your friend gave you the virus, and then start the system restore.after sometime your computer will restart and everything will be all right.

I'm recieving messages in yaahoo messenger but my window is not displaying it, i am not able to see even what i've sent. i've enabled the script in control panel but its not not working yet. i've already...

Many people have been having the same problem!

From Yahoo Messenger Help:
I can't see the instant messages.

Hmm, well... you may have scripting disabled in your Internet Explorer.

To enable scripting:
Click the "Tools" menu on your Internet Explorer toolbar and select "Internet Options."

Click the "Security" tab.

Click the Internet (globe) icon and click the "Custom Level" button.

Scroll down to "Scripting."

Enable the following:

* Active scripting
* Allow paste operations via script
* Scripting of Java applets are all enabled

Click the OK button at the bottom of the window.

Note: Restart Yahoo! Messenger and you should start seeing text in your IM windows again.

Why do I receive an error when running Yahoo! Messenger?
Best guess? You might have a corrupt file in your Yahoo! Messenger directory. To fix the problem, you must manually delete the Messenger directory on your C: drive (default), then reinstall the Yahoo! Messenger application.

To delete the directory:

Close the Yahoo! Messenger application if you currently have it running. Make sure all instances of Internet Explorer are closed.
Go to your desktop and double-click "My Computer."
Click the "C:" drive.
Go to:
C:\Program Files\Yahoo!
Highlight the Yahoo! Messenger folder and press the Delete key on your keyboard. (All archives will be deleted if they are not copied. Please see below.)
To install:

Close all running applications except for your Internet browser.
Visit the Yahoo! Messenger home page.
Click the "Download Now" button.
To copy your complete Message Archive:

Close Yahoo! Messenger (if it is currently running).
Go to your Desktop and double-click "My Computer."
Select the "C:" drive.
Go to:
C:\Program Files\Yahoo!\Messenger\Profiles.
Your "Profiles" folder contains your complete Message Archive. Copy it to the same location on another computer if you wish to view it elsewhere.
Note: If you copy this folder to another computer, your complete Message Archive will be copied, overriding the Message Archive on the computer to which you are copying.

Probably it is the ActiveX settings of your computer.
First Uninstall Yahoo Messenger.
Run RegEdit then back up your registry. right-click on the computer icon and click export to back-up your registry, save it anywhere you want.

Then go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\ find the yahoo folder then delete it. and go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\ find the yahoo folder then delete it.

Run search>>>All files and folders Type YAHOO in "all or part of the file name:" lock in your local hardrive>>choose more advance option check the search for hidden files. Delete all files of yahoo.

uninstall your internet explorer. go to RegEdit >>> HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\ then delete the zone folder. Then go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\ then delete the zone folder.

Download Registry Cleaner to clean up your registry. Restart your computer.

Download and install internet explorer after download go to>>> internet option>>>Security>>> Reset all zone to default value or enable your activeX

Fixing a corrupted yahoo messenger.exe

·If you have a corrupt file in your Yahoo! Messenger directory.

To fix the problem, you must manually delete the "Messenger" directory on your C: drive (default), then reinstall the Yahoo! Messenger application.

All archives will be deleted if they are not copied. If you have a Flash drive copy it. If none, copy them like this:

CLOSE Yahoo! Messenger (if it is currently running).

Go to your Desktop and double-click "My Computer."

Select the "C:" drive.

Go to: C:\Program Files\Yahoo!\Messenger\Profiles

Your "Profiles" folder contains your complete Message Archive. Copy it to the a different folder on your computer and RENAME IT AND save..

Now you can DELETE the Yahoo Messenger by deleting the directory:

CLOSE the Yahoo! Messenger application if you currently have it running. Make sure all instances of Internet Explorer are CLOSED.

Go to your desktop and double-click "My Computer."

Click the "C:" drive.

Go to C:\Program Files\Yahoo!

Highlight the Yahoo! Messenger folder and press the Delete key on your keyboard.

DEFRAG your computer files to remove those empty spaces resulting from the deletion.

TO INSTALL:

CLOSE all running applications EXCEPT for your Internet browser.

DISABLE YOUR ANTI VIRUS/ANTI SPY PROGRAM/S. Most times they interfere in the downloading/installation process.

Click the link below to download Yahoo Messenger

http://messenger.yahoo.com/webmessengerp…

Click the "Download Now" button.

Double-click the Yahoo Messenger executable once the download completes to begin the installation process.

COPY MESSAGE ARCHIVE

Go to your Desktop and double-click "My Computer."

Select the "C:" drive.

Go to: C:\Program Files\Yahoo!\Messenger\Profiles

Drag/drop the copy of your Message Archive to the NEW Yahoo Messenger folder\Yahoo\Messenger\Profiles.
