What kind of card? Wireless? If so, the computer's IP address must be configured to the same range as the router, and the router must be configured to accept incoming connections from your computer.

Nic card not working? How to troubleshoot? Is there a plug and play nic card that can be installed onto this desktop PC?

Hello Sqis,

You can purchase any nic card which is compatible with WinXP or 7.

Insert the card in PC Slot of the motherboard.

Install the driver for the card and it will work.

Will any Wireless Adapters work without the PC's NIC?

Yes even without any NIC card installed on your computer , the wireless adapter will definitely work since its a different device that work for wireless connection and has nothing to do with your NIC card configuration.

I have lost my network connection Icon. As I heard I have NIC problem. please help me.

well I wonder exactly what the "Nic" fault is? To troubleshoot, the first thing to do is go into "Device manager" and see if the Network Adapter is there. If it is, then right click the icon & choose "Update Driver". It should search the PC for the driver and install it. If it cannot "find" it. Then you need to go here http://www.emachines.com/support/product_support.htmland download it. Then run the installer. If this doesn't work then you may need to replace your Nic adapter, this too is simple. You locate the card, withdraw from the slot, replace with the new one, install the "Driver" from the CD that came with the Nic adapter.
If you can find your Nic, but it just isn't showing in your "Task Bar" then right click the icon and select "Show icon when connected".

How do I replace the nic card in my computer?

a Nic card is a simple device (Network Interface Card) presumably a desktop machine I suppose. Just go to a local ABC warehouse or Walmart and by a new Network Adapter "NIC" PCI card and install with the drivers provided. Should be around $12-25.00 depending on the model... this should work:

Dell 4700 Computer Integrated NIC Problem

Check for the pins inside the integrated NIC to check if the pins are bent / disfigured. Does not look like the additional card is making any different, looks more like a moving NIC cable is makin the difference.

Lemme know if this helped!

Can I add a NIC card to my compaq presario pc sr5250nx? I keep loosing my internet connection every five minutes and have to reboot the computer to reconnect

you should be able to
http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c00840496.pdf

if your system is still within warranty I would think twice about opening the case yourself to installing a new network card.. you will be voiding your warranty.. so think about it

another thing i would try before deciding on going for another network card is to check your onboard network adapter has updated drivers... or you may want to reinstall the drivers for that adapter.. either one of those may probably fix your issue assuming is not a hardware failing given that your system may not be that old.... make sure you check the windows update and look for any new hardware driver for your network adapter that may be avaliable through windows update.

before you install your new network pci card you may have/want to disable the one on board going into your bios for that. so to ensure there's no resource conflicts when installing the driver for your new card (it may not be a problem even if you don't but if you run into problems while installing the new card consider this suggestion)

Integrated 10/100 nic card problems

The card has developed a loose connector, it's just worn, it happens and is fairly common with these, and there nothing you can do about it, other than replace the card, and yes you can replace it with a 10/100 wireless/combo. Just remember to uninstall the drivers for the old card prior to installing the new card in order to keep from having a conflict. That is, if there are drivers, a majority of these cards are plug and play. With the wireless/combo there will be drivers.

Emachine model t3302 ethernet card

This is how the wireless world works. You buy a wireless router with a four port switch. Your DSL or cable connects to that. A cable called a Rj45 connects the DSL or cable to the back of the wireless router. You also buy a wireless network card for your PC. After running the software for the router & the wireless nic card including setting up a home network through windows your daughter will be able to connect that computer to your network from any room in the house. Below is a link to a wireless router:
http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/ProductDetail.jsp?ProductCode=10005578
You can connect up to four computers to the wirless router. A computer that does not connect to the router by a Rj45 must use a wireless network card. Linksys WMP54G Wireless-G PCI Adapter Retail: http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/ProductDetail.jsp?ProductCode=252286
As you will see there is a big differance between a NIC card & a wireless card.
